First, really like Chris, his great feel for playing and tone and glad he will get some proceeds for his hard work. I have the Dane and love it. This pedal is way too expensive and I don’t like the 12 V part at all.

12v is the elephant in the room but this defo has some Marshall in a box tones.

every demo I've seen states that it's powered by 12 V and needs 700 mA to power up, and comes with its own supply

@thorpyfx2679 3 ай бұрын
HI, we provide a power supply. 700ma is the startup draw. but it can still start up from supplies that have 12V 500ma output, just takes a bit more time on first power up.

@Gibson1976uk 3 ай бұрын
@@thorpyfx2679could you power this from a Cioks Sol? you can set it to 12v and I think the draw on one channel is 600ma?

What the most of guitarists need from a review of a highly anticipated piece of gear like this is versatility. In regards to a pedal, how does it work with completely clean amps/channels and how does it work with slightly driven channels. Any pedal I have reacts differently to both. That being said, many of us play clean amps and focus on pedals that are able to get what we need in that setting. Anytime someone does a video and does not give you an option to hear it both ways, it’s a turn off. I’m sure this is a great pedal, but from what you base channel sounded like, I can get in this tonal realm with a large variety of overdrives1/4th the price. Make a video showcasing it’s ability to work in numerous environments, that will sell us on it

I just received mine today. Is it normal for the pedal to feel warm even if it’s only plugged in and not engaged?

@@gonzopewpew7838power amp tubes (6L6/EL34 etc…) probably 1-5yrs depending on use. Preamp tubes don’t wear out as quick, I’ve heard 25yrs + as a life span for those alright.

The jury is out from me. Thorpy are clearly top quality, no doubt about it. But I sense that only pros and PRS cork sniffers can afford to partake with this pedal at the price it is and therefore I'm not sure how many actual guitarists you will hear using this pedal in a live scenario. Does it really sound like £425 worth of tone? I dont know, we'll have to see.....

Hi, hope you don’t mind me replying. I like the way you framed your response. Here’s the thing, we always try and pack as much value into our pedals as possible. This pedal took over two years to develop, that work is hard but so worth it for the end result. I know the pedal isn’t cheap, but it’s uncompromising in what we wanted to deliver. Is it worth it to you? Maybe, but that depends if you value what we are trying to provide. There are a thousand tubescreamer clones, bluesbreakers, klons etc, some cheap some cost way more than the EL. We have tried to deliver something that makes you smile, I lose time every time I play this pedal and for me, that’s worth every penny. You don’t need to be a cork sniffer to appreciate a fantastic pedal. This pedal is insanely good and strictly speaking it’s two pedals in one…. Anyway, thanks for caring, that’s half the battle as a pedal builder, all the best, Thorpy

@@thorpyfx2679 I take on board what you have explained and believe me, I'm not trying to be divisive. For some it will be worth every penny and for some it will be a bridge too far. One final thing I would say constructively, is that I have seen it said several times that the boost side of the pedal is modelled from the Dane pedal. I think this potentially dilutes the message about development of the pedal when the Dane was already around at that point. Maybe an angle of the marketing side you could possibly address as it sounds a little contradictory on the face of things. Thanks for your response, your pedals are clearly the real deal so please be assured that it is the price only that I see as a potential barrier for many players, not the quality.

@@muttonjeff105 ah apologies, I’m talking about the whole package… not just the electronics. The engineering, layout and packaging were all equally difficult to get right. The boost side was easier clearly but that wasn’t ever going to be biggest challenge anyway. Having the ingredients to a recipe doesn’t mean you can make a great meal… there’s a lot more to it, and this was the case here. Thanks for replying.
