It's cos 1. Singing for years puts a strain on your voice no matter how good you are 2. Chris has put more into performance than some Broadway stars do in their whole career while still a young man and needed a break from it, so he started writing and hasn't stopped that since 3. He could probably end up doing some producing/directing in the future so he can undo the damage done to the folk who's careers where fucked by ryan Murphy, which I think like everything else he would be amazing at 4.broadway is a hack job at this point you have to either put on your own show or kiss someone else's ass for a year only to get shutdown on the whim of said person, I don't think it's a good environment for any actor.

It's been a long time since Glee and I forgot just how high he could sing. But no matter how high he sings, his voice is still distinctly masculine (in my opinion, no one can mistake him for a female singer. If you close your eyes and listen, you know its a guy. Chris reminds me of my favorite singer. His voice also hasn't changed since young and is also mistaken for a girl when he speaks on the phone, but when you hear him singing for the first time, you would think it's a female singer. You would understand what I mean if you compare Chris' voice with his.). It's the same thing with Chris' speaking voice. I don't understand why some people think his voice is feminine; he doesn't sound feminine, he sounds young, like a preteen. Like he said, he can't help it, his voice hasn't developed the same way other males have. Luckily, society has changed a lot since 2010 and is still changing for the better and becoming more accepting (I've come to understand recently that objectively speaking, male singers who can sing in female registers have an advantage over real female singers as they can hold high notes longer and can put more power in to their voice, so can takle more technically challenging songs - this is a biological thing as males are physically built stronger) It's a shame that Chris hasn't decided to continue in show business. I think he's a really good singer and would have done great on broadway.

Chris Colfer drew me in like a magnet from his first line on Glee. And as the show went on I only became more enamored with him and his character Kurt Hummel. Chris's voice is so beautiful and unique and powerful and one of the few singers that can move me to tears. I ADORE Chris Colfer. To the point where it scares me a little.
