From a Hispanic perspective, I can tell you that we were very divided in this election, but many Latinos who told their friends and relatives they were voting for Harris, at the last minute changed their minds in front of that voting screen, asking us to check that box for our favorite candidate...so I put Trump's insults and racist jokes on a scale with the way Biden (and Kamala) handled the illegal immigration issue and the economy the last 4 years and I picked the one I believed will do a better job this time.

@@chriscuomo I will say what I said on a previous comment. I for one do not vote with my wallet. I vote for character, decency and respect for others. To say that "perception is reality" is asinine and it's like saying you believe the world is flat because you can't see past the horizon. I judge Trump not only by his first four years but by his previous years of failed business endeavors and his demeanor to the world around him. A president has no more control over a good or bad economy than regular folks like me do in a capitalist society, I honestly believe that because my life was not any different under Trump than is was under Biden or any other president for that matter. I made sure me and my family found a way to make it through, we adjusted. To say the least I am disappointed! Disappointed that my fellow Americans think "perception is reality"! I am a black woman who voted for Trump. I put A LOT of thought into my vote because honestly I don't like him. I don't like his morals, and don't care for his speech. He's not eloquent or presidential. Yet, even though I felt that way, I had absolutely no confidence in another 4 years of the current administration. Before voting, I wrote out WHY I was voting for someone I disliked. Here’s my motivation for voting for Trump. You may not agree with it all, but it helps you to understand the motivation as you said. High grocery prices High gas prices (in 2021, gas was over $5 gallon) High interest rates Inability for regular middle class young people to afford home ownership High rent prices forcing grown adults to live with either parents or children Homelessness at an all time high Wide Open boarder - illegal immigration (over 20 million) Prioritizing illegal immigrants over US citizens A push to encourage gender transitioning in children Sex education of our children in schools starting as young as kindergarten. Teaching very young children about homosexuality and anal sex; in some states without parental consent. Irresponsible & rapid pullout of Afghanistan resulting in the loss of American soldiers lives as well as tens of billions of dollars of US military equipment abandoned and left in the hands of the taliban; which is now being used by the same terrorist organizations. Providing gender transition surgery for military personnel with US tax dollars. Providing gender transition surgery for prisoners using US tax dollars. Increase in human trafficking The censoring of US citizens speech on Facebook, TickTock, X, KZbin, etc. The country wide coordination of our US media ALL SAYING THE SAME EXACT THING ABOUT TRUMP. NAZI, FASCIST, WARMONGER, etc. and yet none of it was true of his last administration. Two attempted assassinations of a former president... one nearly successful. Falsely prosecuting and witch hunting of a political opponent including the raiding of a former presidents home US financially investing MILLIONS OF DOLLARS in foreign wars while neglecting its own citizens Terrorizing US citizens into taking an experimental vaccine in which thousands of people were left with seizures, paralysis, miscarriages, myocarditis, heart attacks, etc. and not reporting those results to us. The arrest and locking up of hundreds of doctors who tried to assist COVID patients with natural and less invasive treatment. The government forcing companies to threaten employees with the loss of jobs if they didn’t take the mandatory jab Tens of thousands of people lost jobs; homes, and businesses for not taking said jab or from forcing businesses to close. Mandatory closure of schools for an entire semester of school, causing mental illness in children and causing underserved children across the country to fall behind by more than a year. The encouragement to defund police; causing a low morale within law enforcement all across the country resulting in crime now at an all time high Allowing men into women’s restrooms & locker rooms Allowing men in women’s sports The allowance of China to purchase vast amounts of farm land and other businesses within our country, while the US is not allowed to do the same in their country. (Donald Trump told us about this over 20 years ago. In fact we are in so much debt to China they own us). The allowance of genetically modified substances into our food supply, killing Americans The surge of human trafficking of women and children as a result of open boarders. The allowance of abortions up to the point of birth (please check into this). And yeah, eggs reached over $5.00 per dozen. And I'm sick of it. Does voting for Trump make me a coon or an uncle Tom because I'm black? No! All of these issues are so much more important than my blackness right now. I'm an American. Another 4 years of advancing the above agendas, we were on a one way path of not having a country, and then it wouldn't matter what race we are. You may not agree with all of this and that's perfectly fine. It's America and it's your right. And I respect your right to have your opinion. But these are the reasons I voted for him. I've not forgotten any of this. It hurt my family, my friends, and there was no way I believed for one moment that Biden nor Harris would truly reverse ANY of the above. After all, they either caused it or contributed to it. After casting my vote, I felt like at least I voted my conscience and I had peace. I truly doubted Trump would win, but I'm so glad he did. I'm just ready for some common sense on behalf of America.

And if you criticize him - you are shut down as (insert derogatory name here) - by the media and sympathizers. He has done so himself eg: criticize the numbers of immigrants he allows into the country with no plan to house them - he himself immediately called those questioning him as 'racist'. I couldn't agree more. As a black man i am used to certain things in this country and fully understand that it doesn't define the majority. However, inflation was brushed off by this administration multiple times and my wage keeps me from needing government assistance but that doesn't mean that it still doesn't sting. What I won't tolerate is being forced to accept something that i don't agree with and when i don't I'm labeled as intolerant.
@sethmeistergee2 ай бұрын
Here's my question for you: Inflation has been a global issue, with the United States doing better than every single other country in the world. That doesn't mean I'm saying it's fine that prices have increased -- I wish there was a magic wand the Biden admin could wave to drop prices, but the truth is that without deflation (which is economically catastrophic -- Google deflationary spiral, for example), there is no way prices are going down. Tarriffs will increase prices (there are historical lessons here that prove this); kicking out the folks who harvest our produces will increase prices, both of those are Trump's proposed solutions. I do not understand why people think he's going to somehow magically lower prices. We can check my statement in a few years and if I'm wrong, I will happily admit it.

@@sethmeistergee You punish the party in power. You don't give them a chance and hope they can fix it, b/c they have proven they can't or won't. Trump was given a chance to course-correct after the dems got a chance to do pretty much everything they wanted. You don't give them dems another chance and hope they can fix the problems they created or were already present at the start of their term. That's my opinion.

Chris, please don’t ask questions that miss the point. You asked if anyone blames groups like Latinos, Black men, or working-class voters for considering their own economic realities in this election. No one faults people for prioritizing their financial concerns. But yes, we hold them accountable for not digging deeper into the issues to realize that Trump will likely make things worse for them. Yet we hold the major news channels even more responsible for this failure, as they’ve created an environment where genuine understanding is nearly impossible. Owned by powerful interests that benefit when working-class Americans lack the facts, these networks keep pushing narratives that lead people to vote against their own best interests. Without clear, honest reporting, Americans now need near-expert levels of knowledge just to sort through misinformation. News organizations should educate the public with clarity, but that isn’t happening. Combined with a corrupt political system that limits voters to binary choices, this leaves the average American without the tools to make informed decisions and without meaningful alternatives. We also blame the Democrats themselves for abandoning the working class, focusing instead on abstract ideals that better serve the interests of the middle and upper-middle classes. Bernie Sanders pointed this out after the election, noting that the U.S. has some of the highest costs for healthcare, education, and basic support programs but offers far less than other developed nations in return. Had the Democrats focused on universal healthcare, affordable medications, paid family leave, and guaranteed vacation-issues that resonate with the working class-Trump wouldn’t have had room to make hollow promises. Biden also bears responsibility for blocking a fair primary process, which denied the party a chance to rally around candidates with strong, relatable messages for the average worker. Chris, media figures like you and NewsNation are part of this problem too. Throughout the election, you’ve framed Trump as just another choice, as if voters aren’t choosing between democracy and authoritarianism, or truth and lies. Where were you when Trump promised to eliminate income taxes-a policy that would gut Medicare, Medicaid, and social support systems? Isn’t it a journalist’s duty to inform people of the real consequences of these policies, instead of treating him like any other candidate? The role of journalists is to cut through misinformation, hold leaders accountable, and make sure voters have the facts. But instead, your neutrality allows facts to slide, ignoring what’s truly at stake. Yes, we hold voters accountable, but we recognize that journalists like you play a big role in this problem too. You present yourself as someone “just doing a journalist’s job,” but treating these choices as morally equivalent misses the mark. I value some of your insights and hope that one day you’ll reconsider your role in all of this. America has, unfortunately, become a leader in misinformation and youre a big part of this, mate. Best regards from Sweden

I also have to agree with you, Chris you cannot force peoples agendas down their throat. I definitely agree and people need to learn tolerance, but you can’t tell people it’s ok with a sex change for your child. Sharing bathrooms with men. We just have a lot of issues that we need to fix. I just don’t think he’s the one to do it and he’s not going to. He just wants to stay out of jail.

"He just wants to stay out of jail." Correct. The felon has escaped justice. ,

Can’t speak to the first thing you talk about, but I agree with the 2nd one. But still Chris is right: this video was about why so many people voted for Trump. This is different from whether Trump will live up to voter‘s expectations. He might not and actually try to be remembered for burning down the house. But frankly we don’t know that yet. So I won’t blame the people who think that this is bs and he would never do it.

Meanwhile I haven't seen Baron with his Dad...please STOP black men absolutely care about their kids ..my nephew has a white BM who wants to terminate his parental rights BUT he's fighting to see his child.

@@kugelfunk The felon, fraud, abuser, and Trump U scam artist doesn't want to burn down the house. He wants to make himself the dictator of the house and enact vengance. "I will be your retribution." Anybody who thinks the felon will act benignly probably also thinks the victims of the Trump U scam got a good deal.

Chris, you were sometimes difficult to listen to recently, but you were right. You remind me why I’ve always respected you. Even if I didn’t agree with you I understood you. It’s a lesson in humility and respect which we can all do remembering. Thank you for staying true to your beliefs and values and explaining it so well.

This was a good summary Chris of what this election 🗳️ was all about and you made me realize something’s that I was not considering. I voted 🗳️ for Kamala and have always voted 🗳️ democratic and will continue to, however I can see the concerns of the other side. Thanks for your commentary and stay blessed 😇
