Chris Eubank: My Memories Of Errol Christie

I sparred with Errol as an amateur, he was very very good, he was the most successful amateur boxer in Britain at that time and everyone loved him, a superstar in Coventry I believe he was in the Guinness Book of Records as he won every title available in the UK. It was a privilege to know him, always kind, always friendly and had that wonderful smile. He did not make it as a professional, but sometimes its about the journey, he touched many hearts along the way. Chris Eubank gave a wonderful interview about Errol and having met him as I was sponsoring an ABA meeting in Manchester years ago when he was in his prime, I can say Eubank is a really lovely man, at the time I gave him a heavy leather rope. I spent a short time chatting to him and he is exactly as he appears all the time. Eubanks personality and style make him special, and his disarming honesty here reminds me how down to earth fighters can be. RIP Errol Christie and well done Chris Eubank.

I had the pleasure of meeting Errol Christie on a few occasions in the 90s either at boxing shows or on one occasion in Battersea Park London at a one day music function.A really down to earth nice guy,never came across as the big I am.His mate the recently passed Highway Currie was a nice guy too.Who knows how far Errol would have gone in the pro game with a better chin.That Jose Seys fight may well have destroyed his confidence .

RIP Errol...Saw you once in late 70`s on ITV...It was like watching Sugar Ray Leonard on steroids..The images of that fight were burnt into my memory until now..Great British talent that I will never forget.
