Hi Franny, a Collins fan here from Ireland, who saw him many times, including the Eubank 2nd fight. Your absolutely right about these Guys, 2 Awesome Fighters and to see them live, must have been some experience, as being there is just so different, you can feel the hair raising on the back of your neck. I also got to see Tyson fighting, MEN Arena, February 2000 V Francis, the fight itself wasn't great as it was short-lived but the Undercard was tasty with Hatton, Takaloo, Gomez and Calzaghe all in there. Calzaghe fought Starie here and in all honesty, it was a terrible fight with lots of booing, I felt sorry for Joe, he fought to win, Starie fought to survive. Much and all as I like Collins and Calzaghe, I'd sooner watch Benn's fights any day. All the best, take care.
@francishegarty80874 жыл бұрын
Just to add Franny Darko, while all these Guys, Benn, Eubank and Collins were fighting each other, they were filling out indoor Venues with capacities of 22K plus, and Football Stadiums with 25K, Collins V Eubank 2 and almost 50K for Benn V Eubank 2. Jones couldn't even dream of getting these sorts of Crowds, he fought many times in Venues which held less than 10K, and couldn't even sell it out, in his own Home Town. His return with Griffin in 97, was switched from Atlantic City, where the 1st fight took place and had a Capacity of 14K, to a Bingo Hall in Connecticut, which had a Measly Top Capacity of just 4 and a half Thousand fans, so much for his popularity. As Collins said mid 90s, while pleading for a fight with him, " Jones couldn't attract flies" and he was right. He should have got himself over to the UK or Ireland and fought in Venues with upwards of 40K plus, easily, and would have loved to see if he could handle these Guys as easily as he was beating up on Mandatories and lesser Class Guys. Sorry for the rant mate, all the best.
