I cannot tell you 4 guys how much you've helped me in making better decisions.. I have small health challenges and I use it with my doctors and all my friends.. Just wanted to say thank you.. I could never afford to go to college and learn this.. So thank you for providing this! P.S.. How many people want to see an "Epic Rap battle of History" against Chris Hansen and Keith Morrison?? I do!! ❤️ America loves you guys and I've been here from episode 1.. Just a super fan!! Not a baby reindeer.. Haha! Going to crime con next year and can't wait for a selfie and autograph on some of your merch! Thanks from a former military wife! Sookie! 😎🤘🇺🇲✌️

Fantastic episode! I've worked with some incredibly insightful child and teen survivors of SA. One teen girl noted: " You shouldn't talk to kids about good touch and bad touch, because sometimes touch that is bad actually feels good." I immediately adjusted my vocabulary to "appropriate" and "inappropriate" touch!

There was a neighbor that would grab me and want to hold me with his hands always touching my chest or crotch, I was 6. I told my mom I didn’t want to sit on his lap because I didn’t like the way he touched me and she told me not to be nasty. So I taught my boys that if someone makes them feel uncomfortable they should tell me. I also never forced them to hug or kiss, family or friends.

Yes! The not forcing your kids to hug and kiss people goodbye is so important. I, too remember being handled weirdly by distant cousins as a kid. The Greek side of my family was all about kissing and hugging…I taught my kids that it isn’t rude to politely refuse. It can be cultural and difficult but keeping our kids safe and feeling comfortable is most important. 🤍

tzok09 - Remember the "good touch, bad touch" maxim. This is what I had told my son while he was a child. I also am sorry you had experienced this. My mom also didn't believe me, so when I was raped twice at 15, molested by a female so-called friend and molested for years by my older brother - I never told her nor anyone else. It's an ultimate betrayal. Listen to your children and believe them when they have the courage to speak to you because it does take a heck of a lot of courage.

Not exactly. I was at a friend’s house and their child asked me about “Why does the dishwasher make all that noise?” I said “There’s a small dog in every dishwasher that washes the dishes.” The child looked surprised and bewildered. I laughed and said “It’ll be our little secret and don’t worry the dog is not dead.” So that’s an example of saying to a child a secret without being a disgusting creep. The child is now 13 years old and he told me “I stopped believing in what adults tell me since you mentioned the dog in the dishwasher when I was 6 or something.” Anyway, that’s my story.

To the final advices I would add: Do not force your child into hugging or kissing adults if they are uncomfortable with that! They need to know that they have every right to listen to their guts and feelings, and refuse to any adult. Teach them that trusting their guts and feelings are more important than “being nice”.

*EVERY* predator we see in interrogation videos are the unsophisticated, unintelligent Lesser & Mid-Range narcissists, they’re usually the only ones who get caught. So you can only imagine what the more sophisticated & intelligent predators get away with. Like school principals - my elementary school principal was caught after almost 20 years of abusing boys from kindergarten to 4th grade, during school, the boy I sat next to in class for 5 years had been abused almost daily by him (I thought he was crying because he got paddled, which was allowed in the 70s, he was always crying when he came back from being sent to the principal’s office, and was called to the office daily, yet he was a quiet kid who was never in trouble in class - the teachers & office staff KNEW). I was lucky to be a girl because he only did this to boys, and boys who didn’t have a father at home, and there had been jokes and even songs made about him that lasted through years, when my uncle attended the same school 10 years before I did, and kids weren’t believed by their parents, even though 2 generations of kids had been telling their parents - *until one parent believed his son’s friend* (the boy I sat next to from K to 4th grade), they seated by letter of last name), *and the principal went to prison.*

I was VERY inappropriate with my friends when I was 7+, and I even touched one of them because I thought that’s what you do when you like ppl, and didn’t realize it was wrong until my teacher wouldn’t allow me near him anymore. I remember my dad watching p0rn in front of me and my sister says he made her touch him but I don’t personally recall physical abu$e. But what I was exposed to clearly was pretty bad considering how I acted. 7 year olds don’t do that stuff unless something is happening around them behind closed doors.

Tremendous episode, guys! I hope you have Chris back many more times. The importance of keeping predators off of the streets can scarcely be overstated. While the threat of serial sex offenders is the more widespread problem, the possibility of one of them being either a serial killer or someone who kills after panicking, such as when a child cries, tries to escape, or threatens to reveal the crime. Keep up the great work.

I was victimized multiple times as a child because my Mother has a “permissive” parenting style due to the fact that she’s emotionally detached. Think of Jennifer Soto and that’s what I’m talking about but not as bad. Like, she didn’t allow her boyfriends to sleep with me, but she allowed me to stay the night at my friends houses and those friends were in their late 20’s when I was 14. It didn’t end well. LOTS of parents are emotionally unavailable and don’t feel comfortable setting boundaries with their kids. 😢
@rachelh5211
@rachelh5211 Ай бұрын
This is why we have had a policy to not allow our kids to sleep at other people's homes except a VERY small and heavily vetted group of family and friends. Somewhere I recently saw a video clip of a man saying he never allowed his daughter to go to sleepovers and she kind of resented that until she went to a sleepover after turning 18. When she told the other girls about her dad's policy, they all got quiet and told her how fortunate she had been...every one of them had been sexually abused or molested during a sleepover. She called her dad to thank him for protecting her from that trauma.

@@rachelh5211oh my god 😢 I mean I’m not even surprised- the things men have done to me. When that happens it can cause a freeze response and so you don’t scream or say anything. I’ve had a LOT of misc men do horrible things to me. If I had children I absolutely wouldn’t let them do sleepovers either and I’d adopt chases’s siggestion to teach them about “secrets” with adults and also which parts of their body were for sharing and not. My parents did none of this. Thanks for your input.

Thank you Mark for underlining that those abused mostly do not go on to abuse others. When i remembered what happened to me, it became a huge fear of mine that there was an evilness left in me which had been guiding my education and career choices under the radar. It almost derailed my life. I went on to work with vulnerable children and young adults with a new understanding. Its so important to keep fighting the myth.

Chris, also have parents self assess how accessible they are to their kids. Like folks in nursing homes with eyes on them get the best care, kids who may not be as well supervised are vulnerable. Could be parents' work schedules, military deployments, parental illness, being one of a slew of kids, parental addiction, etc. Parents who can take an honest assessment (without judgment) of how otherwise engaged they are relative to their kids, can take compensatory steps to fill in the gaps with TRUSTED/WELL VETTED adults.

VERY DISAPPOINTED! I am shocked The Panel is giving this criminal a platform again. Always glad to see the predators go down. But I really figured you guys would the integrity to perform background checks. Hanson was kicked off the Dateline Platform for poor journalistic integrity, none of the major networks would pick him up for a reason. He stole from a small business writing bad checks, got caught, he cheated on his wife got caught, and was arrested in Michigan for holding onto tapes instead of giving them over to the court under subpoena. Also, how do you not find HIS behavior creepy!? He enjoys the power and control and notoriety that actual law enforcement should be given for hosting these stings properly. He is even taking control of the panelist. Pedophiles are weak men. That is why they pray on children. Hanson is really not much different as he exploits the shame of these weak men and is using you as strong men to shine the light on his superiority. YUCK! Arent such behaviors rooted in his own inferiority? compensating for his own shame? Every single one of these criminals need a strong and painful intervention such as jail, registry, and public display of their photo and texts. I am not advocating for going easy on any one of them. I am just suggesting let a cop or sherriff or attorney general throw them under the jail and be the light that shines for all of us on the public service they do. Highlight those predator catchers from your platform. Not this guy with shady background himself! I could not finish this one! Anyone else feel the same? Hanson gives me the creeps!
