@@AudioPervert1 What are you talking about? Roger spent recent years homeless, living out of his car. You want him to add up and publish his individual emissions before you'll take him seriously? He's not exactly some jet-setting CEO living high on the hog. Secondly, I'm all for individuals doing whatever they can to reduce the pollution that they are personally responsible for. I do. But lifestyle change is not effective resistance. A small percentage of the population could make all the lifestyle changes imaginable, go live like the Amish, and it won't change the trajectory we're on in the slightest. Who cares if some demonstrators used a *gasp* diesel generator? WTF does that have to do with anything? They are advocating for a Citizen's Assembly, made up of ordinary people instead of the politicians and their corporate masters who got us into this mess, to be in charge of working out what we're going to do about the inevitable hellscape that's coming down the line. They're not chastising people for driving a truck or eating a burger.

He's a master at articulating the misdeeds of the elites, but we need more ... never heard him mention Dick Cheney's name and although it's a virtual certainty he's read the book "The Fourth Industrial Revolution", he's yet to say a word about the GREAT RESET ... he seems to have arbitrarily decided the topic is not open for public discussion ... his candor has limits ... after a talk a few years ago he was asked to comment on 9/11 and blew it off by saying "Bush was probably just asleep at the wheel" ... and during a recent Media Sanctuary speech, he made a snide remark about conspiracy theories ... Jimmy Dore and K&S are doing much more to expose the duplicity of the elites as he alienates people like me who follow him closely!

The issue that neither Hallam nor Hedges address is what happens in a single country after an uprising or revolution has occurred. Global capital can easily strangle any emergent administration that refuses to abide by its dictates. How would an island nation such the UK manage to function, following a revolution, in the absence of fiscal/commercial support from a liberal or neo-liberal EU and USA?

Everyone talks about the fossil fuel industry but no one talks about the automobile industry. The automobile industry and the fossil fuel industry grew up in tandem over the last 120 years. The privately owned automobile is Global Corporate Capitalism's most important commodity. There have been billions of automobiles built since Henry Ford invented the Ford Model T and every car that has been built has put about 44.3 tones of Co2 into the atmosphere during it's life time. There are now more than 200 million SUVs on the planet now. Who besides a car salesman thinks that is a good idea? It is the great taboo to speak truth about our lethal, addictive, diseased preoccupation with the privately owned automobile.

The Iranian Revolution was certainly not "out of nowhere" -- it had been building up for years. An Iranian friend told me four years before about Khomeini and how he was going to return and change things. The signs were everywhere. I'm still perplexed how America was taken by such surprise. Just like the riots after the Rodney King acquittal -- did LAPD really not expect riots? My husband was working at USC at the time, and I had told him to be ready to clear out on a moment's notice if/when the verdict came back "innocent". Apparently, people on the street are more aware that the government, IF those people are not zombiefied by pop culture and sports, etc etc yadda yadda. I don't hold out much hope for Americans. They are definitely zombiefied.

In my opinion Hallam, while an essential, strategic voice, is not only difficult to understand but naive in his belief that “Truth is a more powerful weapon that propaganda”!’ Homo sapiens superior trait is their ability to believe-even to die for, an imaginary narrative which allows them to act collectively. “Whoever pays the Piper calls the tune!” In the Information Age, the “Personal Truth” era, much of the Commonly Agreed On Narrative is fraying at the edges. It is a greater test of democracy that even Fascism or Communism. We already see it in authoritarian control of social media-“necessary to protect Law and Order”. As Hallam dramatically predicts annihilation scenarios in 50 years or less it remains to be seen if the masses, youth in particular, can be stirred from distraction and lethargy to organize and create political movements to effect public policy on a global scale!
