I saw Chris and Herb in Sheffield, England about 2006 or 7 and they were just fantastic. Two voices, two guitars[was one of them nashville strung?] and a mandolin. I couldn't believe just how good they were. It was a real pleasure and a thrill to hear them play and sing live. Found out shorly afterwards that Herb was in The Dillards way back when.Check them out.

I love this song, but I had never heard this version until today. He is an amazing artist, not matter which band. Wow!

These lyrics were written by Stephen Stills. Chris originally wrote the tune with the lyrics used by Firefall. When Stephen heard it, he changed the lyrics to create the version played by Manassas. But as originally written, the Firefall version is the correct one.

Also written by Firefall's Rick Roberts when he and Chris were in The Flying Burrito Brothers. @@lubstorfk

Hey Chris, I hope you will go on the road again. If you do, please play at Santa Barbara.

Sometimes it's only in retrospect you realize how absolutely essential one musician was to the success of a group. Chris was that guy. I listen to Younger Than Yesterday or Notorious Byrd Bros these days and realize how his creativity made those discs cutting edge in their time and influential right to the present day.

Dan Fogelberg did this with Chris too on tour one time. Also a great version on Manassas's wonderful album.

Not actually. The original was by Rick and Chris. Stephen just decided to write new (alternative) lyrics for the Manassas version. @@paullepage9484

I have to agree. He is my all time favorite stalwart of the genre. The same goes for his partner, Herb Pederson who I wish had been included in this video. You can hear him.

I saw Chris at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach around 1973-74 with a gal I liked at the time, Roxanne. Great performance in such a small venue, just an oversized bar really, but many great performers played there.

What I would give to see any honest to goodness blues/rock band at any SoCal rock club in the early 70's. Talk about vibe!!
