JC Wilsey, King of Slow, the man who plays the most beautiful solo ever devised on a Stratocaster, tragic talent, sadly missed. RIP.

It took me 32 years to find this song! I heard it and never knew the title! I thought it was a Roy Orbison song. Finally have found it. I love it.

the real thanks goes to James Wilsey. Chris may have the voice, but the real magic of this song is with James and HIS song. RIP the king of slow....

Hi from Atlanta, where allegedly we broke this song and contributed to the world hearing one of the most simple yet majestic and narcotic riffs ever put on record. I've seen Chris play here a number of times but always with Herschel who is fantastic, so I just assumed he was the original wingman. I just found out today, the bent crying riff was created by James Calvin Wilsey, his guitarist for several albums - and that after becoming homeless, he died from years of drug usage in 2018 on Christmas Eve. This is all tragic beyond belief; so sad I never realized the man behind that hypnotic sound on those early records of Chris and the band. Peace Mr. Wilsey.... what a legacy, what a tragedy.

I went to a Chris Isaak concert in Canton Ohio last summer he still looks and sounds amazing. I had to travel 5 hours to get to the concert and stay overnight but it was well worth it.

I actually prefer this video to the more famous version, much more truer sense of the melancholy of the song... not to mention seeing the whole band, including the sublime playing of Mr James C Wilsey.

Interesting to see James C is playing what would then have been a brand new Strat on this - with 2-point trem and early Lace sensor pickups. Wonder if that's what he recorded his part with.
@sbennett21122 жыл бұрын
That's Jimmy's Shoreline Gold Strat with gold Lace Sensors. I think he said it was a 1964 or '65. The forum where we hung out for years and where he posted many times about his gigs, recording and touring has been taken down.

The world was on fire and no one could save me but you It's strange what desire will make foolish people do I never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you And I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you No, I don't wanna fall in love (this world is only gonna break your heart) No, I don't wanna fall in love (this world is only gonna break your heart) With you With you (This world is only gonna break your heart) What a wicked game you play, to make me feel this way What a wicked thing to do, to let me dream of you What a wicked thing to say, you never felt this way What a wicked thing to do, to make me dream of you And I don't wanna fall in love (this world is only gonna break your heart) No, I don't wanna fall in love (this world is only gonna break your heart) With you The world was on fire and no one could save me but you Strange what desire will make foolish people do I never dreamed that I'd love somebody like you And I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you No, I don't wanna fall in love (this world is only gonna break your heart) No, I don't wanna fall in love (this world is only gonna break your heart) With you (this world is only gonna break your heart) With you (with you) (This world is only gonna break your heart) No, I (this world is only gonna break your heart) (This world is only gonna break your heart) Nobody loves no one

What? I was there in 1989 when this song came out. First release was not '91.

This is NOT the "first release" of the song, which was recorded for his "Heart Shaped World" album in 1989. And the song was not "commissioned" for the movie soundtrack, as far as I know. An instrumental version of the song was added to the movie, a rather lame film but featuring a good musical track. I give credit to the film for lighting a fire under Isaak's career at that point.
