Love starts with butterflies in the stomach, and ends in a dark room with a bottle of whiskey and this song on repeat.

The drummer is using brushes. They're used when you want a softer drum or cymbal strike than using sticks. Sometimes two brushes are used, sometimes one brush and one stick. Because of the music styles, they were used much more commonly in the North American music of the 1930's 40's and50's.

If you ever have an opportunity to see Chris Isaak live, go. He and the band are not only super talented musicians, but Chris is a tremendous performer, charming and FUNNY! His banter between songs is so entertaining. One of my favorite live performers ever.

Isaak has said he wrote this song after a girl he knew called him late one night and said she wanted to come over and "talk" to him until he could no longer stand an he just said OK. But as soon as he hung up the phone, he thought "this girl is trouble. Always has been and it was going to kill him to have her come over when he knows she's just going to want to leave, but he was going to do it anyway. He wrote this song in between the time he hung up the phone with her and before she arrived. He said he thinks she kind of got mad at him because he was like Hey baby. Yeah, you're beautiful, but listen to this great song I just wrote."

I'm a musician and have seen Chris & the band many times and had the chance to talk too Drummer Kenny Johnson, Bassist Roly Salley, Guitarist Hershel Yatovitz & Chris Isaak also, to answer the instrument is called a shaker & it's a Guitar Strap. If you have access to KZbin look up The Chris Isaak Show complete episodes which was on from 2001 - 2004.

Esta canción es un superclásico del año 1989 lanzada en lista country pero se propagó en listas pop como hit. Un gran artista Chris Isaak

Chris writes his songs. His band has been performing with him for more than 30 years. This song is about the pain of falling for someone who doesn't reciprocate. In the original video, a beautiful model toys with him. That video is very steamy, in more ways than one: It was filmed on a lava flow in Hawaii against a backdrop where the ocean was boiling. He writes corny sayings on the backs of his guitars, and flips them around for the audience to see during his shows at opportune moments. He is a prankster with a wicked sense of humor. The stories he tells are crazy! On his greatest hits DVD he pulls a multi-layered prank on the viewer and his band that leaves you laughing.

Drummer: brushes….this song is great, it has a vintage late 1950’s sound with the trippiness of something from the late 60’s with the airiness & space of the 1980’s ….or something, idk….also, drummers usually sticks, jazz people used brushes for a more subdued sound (in places)…in between sticks & brushes there’s bundle sticks, which is a bunch of thin wooden dowels bundles together….its what Dave Grohl used for nirvana unplugged…it’s all about levels of loudness…

The girl is wicked, period. When she said she never felt this way. Liar, Liar. Men do it to girls all the time also. No difference. Just be careful what you say and what you believe, especially when you are vulnerable. You can see it in her face in the video. She doesn't care about him. She is only a tease😢.😢

Hi Miss VG, you might want to play the longer recorded version too. I also have a number of very good Chris Isaak songs that might really appeal to you. 1) Lie To Me (Awesome song that some people think is better than "Wicked Game!"). 2) Blue Hotel 3) Fade Away 4) Somebody's Crying 5) Go Walking Down There 6) Blue Spanish Sky 7) Graduation Day 8) Funeral In The Rain. Take care from Canada!

The apex of the song is Isaak holding out that long, subtle final note. It would be helpful if you didn't talk over most of the music, since you end up missing those nuances.

Love is a wicked game. I played it my whole life, and lost. I too once met a woman. She is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. The sexiest, the most giving (and taking) woman I ever met. I loved her with all my heart and soul. Every fiber of my being would quake with the thought of her. She took my breath away every time she walked into the room. She was everything a man could dream of. For 10 years I loved as no man has loved before, that's why it devastated me when I had to leave her. Well I didn't truly leave her.... She is still in my thoughts everyday, I still love her today as much as I did the dad I walked away. I still can't touch another woman without feeling guilty like I'm cheating on her. For 15 years I've walked this world alone and will die alone. But it's ok I have loved deeper than most can imagine.
