Two interesting things about this song... 1. The lyrics are actually "No, I don't want to fall in love with you". I found this out after learned how to play it for a girlfriend in college (I removed the "don't" when I sang it to her). 2. James Hetfield from Metallica actually used this song as inspiration to take vocal lessons to get more soul in his singing before The Black Album. This can be observed in the song "The Unforgiven".

I was blessed to see that band live and it was an experience. He is the originator of this song, Jamel. Seeing him live is amazing... he played and when the concert was supposed to be over... that band just kept on jamming for us... all kinds of songs they just pulled out of their hats. And we stayed... we were glued to that band like flies on fly paper and it was outdoors... summertimes... and the happy hangover lasted for days.

Hey Jamel! I *looove* this song. It's so sensual. And I love the way Chris Isaak sings it (he's so handsome 😍). Beyond this song, he's an amazing (and shamefully underrated) artist with a great group of musicians behind him. The director, David Lynch, included some of Isaak's music (like this song), and Chris Isaak himself, in some of his films. "Don't Make Me Dream About You" is from this same time frame. "Baby Did A Bad, Bad Thing", "Blue Hotel", and his debut "Dancin", highly recommended. ☮ out!

OMG, this song gave me goosebumps when it came out...His voice just does things...The studio version is even more powerful, and lust inducing.

James Hetfield from Metallica was so inspired by Chris Isaak that he started experimenting with his voice, which led to their new sound in the Black album.

Cool, in what way?
@JoshuaCairns3 жыл бұрын
@@Tarmac76 Hetfield felt like he didn't have a good voice so he stuck to yelling and growling. After hearing Chris Isaak he wanted to experiment with singing and a few years later he felt confident enough to sing. The Black album was considered controversial among fans because it went away from his iconic sound.

I wouldn't go that far. Hetfield told Bob Rock he wanted his vocals to sound like Chris Isaak on the Black Album. It didn't necessarily inspire the sound of the entire record.

I saw Chris Isaak live 20 years ago in Minneapolis and it was one of the top 3 concerts I have been to. He is wonderful to see live …I would really recommend it!

This song gives me the feels, remembering when my ex-wife told me she never loved me. Of all the things that happened through our breakup, that was the worst, knowing how much in love we were in our early years and having her deny it.

"So far, so great." So true!! Funnily enough, I was going to listen to this song earlier today and did not get the chance. Now I get to anyway. Chris is from Stockton, CA. Highly recommend the official video with Helena Christiansen. HIM does an especially good cover from early in their career, very heavy.
