A childhood that never teaches u self respect or worth will put you in that life of abusive and meaningless relationships. “Threw her life in the floor” resonates with those feelings very well. I’ve been that drunk girl, in both scenarios. I’ve been taken advantage of. That one individual that acted those man and did exactly like the video, I don’t know his name and I never saw him again but I never forgot him or stopped appreciating or respecting him for his kindness!!

My understanding of the video is this. The little girl in the video is now the adult that the man takes home and locks her door and left his number. and that when shes a little girl in the video, thats how she was born, a guy taking advantage of her mom when she was drunk. Great song and message here.

See, I wondered that too, but then what about the beginning? The drunk girl was her Mom. She took her to the dance, watched her try on the dress, and the little girl iced her arm. I guess it makes sense though...they look exactly alike. I can see it.
@belladonna22155 жыл бұрын
@@BirdmansPlace no that was a different woman that was "drunk girls" mom taking her to the father daughter dance when "drunk girl" was little. Basically the video is showing that "drunk girl" didn't have a positive male role model to teach her how a man should treat her growing up (e.g. watching her mom getting abused) and although it looks like a boy did take advantage of her in high school or college when she was drunk the man from the beginning and end of the video is showing her how it should be.

What's really sad is that this song got very little air play and then disappeared! It was because a bunch of over-reactive feminists got offended because "women shouldn't need a man to save them. The situation should never have happened and she shouldn't need any man to help her. EVER!" Well, you know what? Technically, that's true, it shouldn't happen. And people shouldn't be killed in car wrecks and there shouldn't be fires and there shouldn't be tornados, etc. "SHOULD" is meaningless! Things happen, people die and people get drunk in bars and need a decent human being to have their back! But because the song annoyed some group of jerks, it's message was silenced. It really sucks! (BTW, I'm a woman and believe in equality and everything, but if I did get stuck in a bad situation, I hope someone would help me out!) And just for a lighter note - on the subject of "should or shouldn't" - I should have been born rich and look how THAT turned out, LOL!
@BirdmansPlace2 жыл бұрын
You know what? You're right...that is sad. Because we all need help, no matter who we are or what we are.
