I just assumed they made it a fatal 4 way to get Foley in the main event as his retirement match. Rock vs hhh vs big show vs y2j doesn't make any sense. Jericho was feuding with Chyna and Bob Holly before Wm 2000. I think the initial plan was Rock vs hhh, and big show and Jericho just happened to be on the poster as well. The year before; the wm 15 poster had austin, rock, kane, taker, foley, hhh and sable on the poster, means nothing. I think they're looking too much into this.

Exactly. He was probably just on it because it balances heel heel - face face. Next biggest babyface at the time who could've credibly fit into the main event was Kane and they probably just thought Jericho was more photogenic for the poster. They wanted X-Pac and Jericho to have a match for the IC title which would've made Kane available for the main event too.

I hate it when Jericho uses that George Harrison comparison, whether it’s true or not, HE shouldn’t be the one saying it! It makes him look so full of himself which actually turns people away from but I don’t think he gets that. Honestly Jericho was/is never the guy, he’s a great hand and an upper mid card talent that works with the guy, that’s all.

They put the strap on him so Triple H would have an opponent at WrestleMania X8 because Austin flat out refused to turn heel again. Look at how Jericho was placed in the card. You don’t book your prestigious first-ever Undisputed Champion in the middle of SmackDown against The Big Show. As with most booking decisions post-X7, they didn’t have the foresight or ability to build new stars and elevate the young guys and rotate some of the top guys around the card.
