I really enjoyed watching the documentary. It really made me think about how technology over the years has an impact on the way movies are made. As I look back at some of my favorite movies I realize the difference. As an avid movie goer, I am torn. I love old movies. The older movies have almost a tangible texture to them. Now in the digital age technology allows you to do just about anything in the movies. Visually they are more expansive and vivid. The environment within the movies is more cohesive because visually it can be represented and explained. Mr. Reeves is captivating in his conversational interviewing style.

For those who haven't seen it, "Side by Side" is a terrific documentary about the evolution of modern cinema. I was in film school from 2006-2011, AKA the time when a LOT of filmmaking was transitioning to digital. And, like the documentary, people get very passionate about the subject. I remember that one day a physical fight almost broke out during a discussion of Michael Mann's movie "Public Enemies" which was shot on digital with the Thomson Viper camera.
