I feel I managed to correctly identify the social dynamics of their interchange. My comment was a joke explaining a counterfactual scenario that occurs only in my head, reinterpreting the clip. It was intended to undercut the moment by reformulating the typical British compliment as something more barbed. It was supposed to accentuate how polite the pair are by asking readers to reimagine them as not being so... I guess it wasn't overly successful.

I will never understand all the Coldplay hate. I will preface this by saying that I love Coldplay. I think the reason everyone hates them is BECAUSE they are SO positive. If you are in a grumpy mood, and across the street you see someone jumping around and being insanely, overly positive, it gets a little annoying right? I like this about Coldplay, but KZbinrs like Cinema Wins piss me off over how positive they are, and I think a lot of people are like that

Chris Martin, if you're reading this, I was at the front of the crowd for the Summer of 2000 Bizarre festival in Germany when/where Coldplay was one of the lesser known opening acts. You sort of introduced the band and hoped you would not be forgotten after the three-day festival was over. I had recently bought the Parachutes CD (from HMV in London, where I literally got it straight off the delivery truck out of a cardboard box). I think your first song at the festival was "Spies" and I vividly remember, especially when that song goes to its bridge, that yes this band is going places. Before playing "Yellow" you compared it to "Sweet Child of Mine" and said this is as big a hit as that, or something like that. You also made some remark about not many people knowing your band to which I shouted "I know you you're great" (or something like that). Anyway I'll always remember that first show 22 years ago when we were all so young. ;-)

It's his outfit for the new album. It's all in black and white, dating from 1919. Look at the cover of the album. It represents Jonny's great-grandfather's Big Buckland Dance Orchestra. And their new music takes up elements from that time. They all have artificial holes somewhere in their clothes. What they wear is always very stylish to fit the album they are playing.
