Nice hosting Mr. Letterman! It's always a pleasure watching you work despite the occasional joke slump, ----which we do all have, all undergo, that's natural, nothing to worry about. Which ones? Well...but you are a master of so-called small talk as well as bigger subjects, all very important. But, I am not so much of an 'Anglophobe' (matter of fact I am an 'Anglophile' - nice big words, huh?) that I expect this articulate English gentleman with his famous and fully charming native accent to have to try to meet the American standard of accents established by Gosh George Lindsay, or Jim Nabors or even well Don Rickles. He couldn't do it. That's like forcing Harry Belafonte to sing Abba in Swedish, or something.

I, for one, was impressed by Mr. Grant's attempt at an American accent. It was brief and only half-hearted, but sounded convincing to me.
