But the real lesson in this story is to learn how to forgive. He befriended so many people who have him a day or two of shelter, food and kindness but yet his parents who gave him over 24 years of food, shelter, education and love he could not find it in his heart to forgive them for not providing him a perfect life. We must all first learn how to forgive before going anywhere. He was running from himself.

To read all of the negativity towards Chris is really disheartening. He was a man, yes privileged and unprepared, that was trying to stray away from this corrupt society we live in today centered around materialistic ideals and politics. He was trying to feel actual freedom. Freedom to be on his own, not bound by money or objects. He is honestly an inspirational man that should be respected for what he was trying to get across to the rest of the world and not criticized because he was unprepared for the extremely harsh Alaskan wilderness which would give anyone a hard time to survive in. Christopher McCandless will always be an inspiration to me. -R.I.P. Chris

Can’t believe I’ve never heard of this story before.....I watched the movie Into the Wild today on Netflix and as I dive more into the background of Christopher’s story, it breaks my heart even more. It’s very sad that he ended up dying in his search for happiness and inner peace...I can’t even begin to image how he felt as he took his last breath all alone and probably feeling guilty as he went. There was a note at the end of the movie that he supposedly wrote before dying that stated He lived a good life and I really hope that was his reality, because regardless of how selfish his actions may have looked, he wanted to live and appreciate the life he was given without any of society’s strings attached. Things I learned from this story is that sometimes the happiness we crave is in front of us, but it can be hard to find as we’re surrounded by hypocrisy....& most importantly, “Happiness is only real when it is shared.” Rest in Peace to a beautiful soul. You have inspired me and so many others ❤️❤️

I can definitely understand why Christopher wanted to escape into the wild given the circumstances he grew up in as well as how he could relate to some of the booms he read. I am sure ge was a bright, kind, and genuine person. However, he greatly underestimated his ability to survive in the wild, refused help from others, and did not have the proper knowledge to live in the wild. In retrospect, his actions were stupid and his refusal to accept help, lack of knowledge, and romanticism of nature is what brought him to his demise. I do hope, however, that where his soul is... He is at peace.

But regardless of our personal family experiences if not physically abusive we must learn to forgive. None of us live perfect lives or are perfect parents and must learn to forgive others so God can forgive us. I think it wasn't till the end on that plaque that he forgave his parents but before that it was Chris who was the abusive one and he realized that and forgave them.

I came upon his photo in u-tube when his sister Carine was giving a talk, and I immediately made that association of how similar he looked like to Tony Peluso the guitarist who played the solo of that Carpenter's song which also has a similar trait listening to the lyrics.

“Live before you die” now I feel motivated to want to go to France Legion. If Uncle Sam didn't give me my dream so I find a way path. Now I feel wanted to quit my juvenile justice job and ghost my family. In the end, I die for Legion with a different name and not knowing my parent that I'm dead if I die there. Sound a good plan to me. (it's time to save money)

Did Christopher have a camera ? Curious as to where the photo's came from. Although a very sad story, the extremes that Christopher went to was as the Native Alaskan Soul's say Irresponsible and a Death Sentence brought upon by himself. "In the arm's of the Angel's Beautiful free spirit Christopher" Fly Free Now. Some Soul's wish they could just take off and do what Chris did, But think how hard it would be. Kindest thoughts to all, your families and Furbabies from Australia. 😢🕊🕯🥺

Chris may have burned his money but his sister is more than willing to cash in on him.
@brianteed73904 жыл бұрын
He actually didn't burn his money or identification. I just recently watched a video where they interviewd the guy who has Chris's backpack. He said the authorities left it after they removed Chris from the bus. It wasn't until years later he found a secret compartment and in it was Chris's wallet. It had 3 $100 dollar bills and a few forms of id.

@@LoneVocalist yes! thank you. This entire story is a media creation because Krakauer decided to write a book. Otherwise, nobody would have ever heard about it. Pure hype, no real story

He realised his father was a liar (NASA) and a devil worshipper and he wanted none of it. His father and step mother wanted him to just become like them, be selfish and exploit other so he did the opposite, he went into the wild so he wouldn't participate in that evil but was unprepared and ended up dying but at least he was at peace with God.

He wasn’t lost but he didn’t know where he was if that makes sense, there was an alternate route a few miles away that would’ve given him access across the river to the highway

First off whenever someone says they were abused but the parents say it's a lie I'm always inclined to believe the child. I know with the abuse I endured my mother seems pretty ambivalent about it and my father's deceased. But if I had a profile career I can't imagine that she would admit it. This was such a high-profile movie and book I'm sure it's the kind of attention his mother did not want especially being a bigomist. Secondly this young man I applaud his courage but I really feel he did things the wrong way. Having said that he did what he felt in his heart was right so I can't fault him. All he had to have done was brought a little more food or even maybe a map but this was his destiny. He never showed any kind of emotional attachment to anyone other than his sisters and now he is at peace. I hope you did not suffer and I hope that he is dancing with the angels in heaven. It's a very poignant and powerful movie and while I feel some of his messages wrong about getting rid of all material possessions to the point of putting yourself at risk or even causing your own death I do think people are far too materialistic and way too unkind to each other.

Chris was not selfish... the people that think he was are. I wish these details wete in the movie. People might of understood better what his frame of mind was. Think about it...(a scene in the movie) His father is trying to show case a perfect family but you are old enough to know better and know the history of abuse and darkness... Watching that. Wouldn't that make you just want to run Into The Wild. I think we all have a little Chris in us. Wanting to run away and be alone.
