Wayne Carr starts at 11:15 Best thing about this broadcast was that it was just after the Queen's Speech on Christmas Day, and Chris Morris managed to get the words "wanker, (wayne carr), f'cking (as in "We ain't got no f'king idea" in the Radio one sound controllers bit, ) no wonder he was banned shortly after this

The Mirror article your thumbnail's headline is from is absurdly pompous. I also find it somewhat hilarious that they seek to shame Morris in that article by talking about how he's sensitive about his birthmark, or with quotes like this to illustrate what a dark, twisted, wretched soul he truly is: _"He once cooked a chicken with 20 cloves of garlic and then came to work - he had to go outside because of his breath."_

REM were considered an alternative band at the time, and a very good one at that
@NxDoyle5 жыл бұрын
By the time Chris played Pop Song 89 by REM, they'd jumped from alternative to mainstream. Green, the record on which Pop Song 89 appears, was their major label (Warner Brothers) debut. Their last independent release, through IRS, was Document in 1987.

Radio 1 routinely played music from the fifties onwards until the mid 90s. Radio 2 at the time was playing Vera Lynn and Mantovani. It took until the early 2000's and 6mysic and 1xtra launching before both stations started sounding like they do now.

REM, that 'conventional' band who wrote Orange Crush about Vietnam, who wrote 'The One I Love' about someone the character in it no longer did (if they ever did), who wrote an entire album, Monster, from the perspective of obsessive characters.

His taste isn't conventional so much as varied and eclectic. He loves all genres and eras of music, some I'd consider quite cheesy but generally he's awesome at creating a really good soundscape. Blue Jam showcases his music taste and production the best
