I would note how well matched/meshed the bass and drums are with his playing; they are interesting without being competitive.

One of the best👌 solos I have heard to date: using properly placed punctuation marks - commas, colons, semi-colons, periods etc., so to say - Chris Potter slowly and intentionally builds (up) his ad lib into a captivating climax, thus demonstrating the Art or Science of developing a coherent Jazz Improvisation. Don't you notice that Chris has herein "abandoned", almost entirely, his expert penchant for speed wherein "less is more" - a la Miles Davis. His subtle use of altissimos is very well 👌 placed - a feat 👏 I am endeavoring to acquire and apply on demand. The clarity and precision of Chris'👋 notes are marvelously effected with expert dexterity and mastery, I am persuaded to observe and affirm. Don't you also admire the shakes and sharp trills during his improvisation? I do. Thanks for the post 📫

I'm gonna get caned but every time I see this Potter it's like Adolf has shaved his 'tache. Lot's of technical exercises but no emotional input least of all any 'blues'. It takes all kinds eh?

I agree. I can't hear any blues after the first few bars. Amazing technique, and it sometimes looks like he's experiencing some excitement, but I'm left cold.
