After an Alot Like Birds show Kurt and the rest of the band crashed at my friends house after the band had asked on facebook years ago when they first came to be. First question i asked kurt was "how did you come up with the last minutes of people you know", excited to tell me he said he did that part and all of his first album on his MacBook. Hanging out with them was probably the coolest night of my life

It’s my favorite off this album. It’s Jon being pissed because he had to leave due to lymes disease but certain people were kicked out due to drug issues. Someone wanted to continue but couldn’t and someone gave it all away for being selfish. Not naming names but I’m sure everyone knows

Yeah albums on CDs always had secret tracks like 30 seconds to 2 minutes after the final track. It was a fun thing bands enjoyed doing. Doesn't happen as often these days, though

You should check out Secret Band. It's basically a hardcore version of DGD but Jon is the only vocalist, and if you do check them out I would recommend the song Projectile Comet.

I personally love this track and have to put this on the top 5 of the album. I believe the title explains a lot of the song itself, because the song is about "people you know" and talks about them in a negative light. The second part is actually a hidden track which is why it's a lot different than the first part, I think that the hidden track especially fits the cover art of Deathstar and a feeling of floating through space, if you want the lyrics for the hidden track, Kurt Travis reused the lyrics in a song on his solo project called "Still Won't Listen". Wonderful reaction video, I can't wait for you to react to more.

Dude I’m so happy you reacted to this! I really got impacted with this song. Idk the words and overall the entire music not just the lyrics. The music captivated me like no other. I was also high but it still holds a deep place in my heart. I really enjoy this song in its entirety!

God I've been listening to dgd since I was 12! That makes it 14 years for me. Out of all the songs they have out there (over 100 songs) I'd have to say this one is definitely in my top 10 especially the second half of the song 🖤

honestly this song is in my top 5 dgd songs. And ik many other ppl that this song is in their tops as while. The beginning would go so hard live, wish they would do this live again. But in many interviews, they had said they probably would never do this song live. :( Would be a dream to see this live Haha.

Glad you made it through the whole 9 minutes, the chill ending is a nice touch. i agree with everyone recommending Secret Band, and the song Projectile Comet. But I cant wait for Happiness, Tree Village is up first and it's still one of my favorites.

This was probably the most high energy song I was graced to be frontline and in the pits for during a DGD show about 10 years ago, got to crowd surf and do a flip into the crowd. The entire crowd was chanting the ending rant, it was so perfect. Would love to see you try some Periphery soon!

If you like this, then you’d love Secret Band, where Jon gets to do his thing without clean vocals on every track. I love every song they’ve ever put out. That includes all the other bands them and their former members are associated with (Secret Band, Royal Coda, Slaves, Emerosa, A lot like Birds, Etc.) which you should all check out eventually btw. But anyway I love the way Dance Gavin Dance experiments and tries new things even if it might be off putting. Can’t wait to see the Happiness reactions. Keep it up my guy 🤙🏼

Yeah the "2nd half" is mainly meant to be a hidden track on its own rather than part of the actual song, but since its a hidden track thats why they chose to bundle it with "people you know" rather than put it on its own since thats not really the intent. Weird yeah but thats dgd lol PS still super hyped for happiness!

To me, I just see the rest of it as a hidden track as this was the album closer. I enjoy this song but I tend to skip the extra stuff at the end lol it's nice but doesn't jive with the first half. I cannot be certain but I believe those vocals are Kurt just pitched up, just because the melody as far as I know couldn't be done by Jon. Never heard him legitimately "sing," closest thing is some weird parts of Secret Band songs. If you dug this being all Jon, SB is him only but with the same guitarist and drummer. Excited for Happiness though, that album is probably the most universally loved by DGD fans.
