Good day Rob, I guess I was lucky enough? To get hands on one of those with boomerang Damascus and absolutely love the knife. But,,, I've been collecting real mammoth and elephant ivory northwoods and gec knives. You are right in that it's not real ivory. But still a good addition to the collection. Good review, keep up the good work Brother.🦅🇺🇸🦅

Beautiful! But i agree about the handle material. Even if it was indistinguishable from the real thing, faux materials just dont "feel" right. Id go with box elder burl, ebony or maybe cocobolo instead. Imagine a damascus blade with ebony scales. Yuuup! THATs the one i want!

The problem with Ivory is that beautiful elephants have to die to make knife scales etc. Even though this is a synthetic material, why would anyone want to look like they’d had an elephant killed for their vanity? Is one supposed to run around saying “this looks like I’ve had Nelly murdered, but honest, I just look and feel like an elephant poacher!” Seriously?
@mattzza66652 жыл бұрын
? I agree to a point about elephant ivory pre banned ivory didn't save the elephant either. As with mammoth ivory it's beautiful and tells a story it's one of a kind with all ivory and believe when a elephant dies naturally the ivory should be used and priced the way of its scarcity. Then people would bitch about that too. You just can't win. 🤡

I like your reviews. You are apparently a CR fanboy - as I am. I like the thought hole when the blade is closed - not so much when opened. Of my numerous knives, my assortment of CR would be the last to go.

Got in on the Blade HQ carbon fiber and Damascus Gen 1 and absolutely love it. Picked up the Gen 2 in Burl, so not feeling the need to add this to the CRK collection. I am on the list to buy and replace ALL my S35 and S45 blades with Magnacut when available. @Rob what are your thoughts about Magnacut vs. S35/S45?
@TheApostleP Жыл бұрын
Magnacut is the best of the 3. I love S35 though. But S45 blows… IMHO.

I’ve got a sebenza 31 with the sv45 and while it does seem to hold a pretty good edge, I did chip it a little, relatively easily.. I’m a glassblower and was cutting open a shipment of quartz (glass.. fused silica). The tubes were wrapped heavily in Saran Wrap and while I was slicing it off, I kicked the raw, unfinished tube end.. resulting in a couple tiny chips near the tip. Within the first 1/4 inch or so of the blade. They’re small, only fractions of a millimeter deep but they are there. I resharpened it after this but I didn’t wanna remove enough material to totally eliminate the chips.. I’ll work them out in time and future sharpenings..

@@davidmarshall7752 well.. kinda. I like nice knives and I buy em to use. I’m also pretty anal about my tools and stuff so I try to take care of them and maintain them them well. However, I don’t buy knives based on steel or anything like that.. I just know what I like and I’ll admit that it largely comes down to aesthetics but I have owned a bunch of “high end” knives and there is apparent quality on display with the crks.. it’s little things and while you’re well into diminishing returns by the time you get to crk (imo), I do see the extra attention to detail in a $400 crk over a $200 ZT or spyderco. It’s a lot of money for a knife but like I said, I know what I like and I typically only see something that I really like every couple years. I’ve been very happy with inexpensive knives too.. my most carried knife is easily a sanrenmu 7010 that I paid $7 for. That thing spent 6-7 years are my go to edc and I still keep it in a jacket pocket for rougher use or to hand off to people without worrying about it. I’ve actually been meaning to order a couple more.

A through hole on a fusion knife just doesn’t sit well with me. I wish they would go back to version 1. It effectively does the same thing but looks much more at home on a fusion knife.

Gen 1> Gen 2> Gen 3. It's a gentleman's folder. A polished blade should be the standard and plastic ivory is dumb. They made gorgeous mamoth ivory inlays and if they can't source the ivory they're better off to not try to imitate it. I understand the thumb hole assists with opening but going back to the gen 1 nail nick would fix the issue without the ugly hole
