Chris Robson Of TRC talks Slipknot, Lower Than Atlantis, "Gwen Stefani," Touring & UKHC Music Videos

Chris Robson from legendary London hardcore band TRC (The Revolution Continues) talks about how the band went from a bunch of North London hardcore kids playing shows in Camden and the Relentless Garage to playing Download Festival, touring with Lower Than Atlantis / Bring Me The Horizon, going overseas to festivals in Belgium/France and filming some music videos before DIY music videos were cool.
It is really interesting to see how a band marketed themselves via having a gimmick AND going against the grain of what is expected in a UK Hardcore band. Also the idea to film music videos and record full albums rather than just EP's!

Loved this interview! Check out some of their music videos, they've done plenty (as Chris mentioned, it was such a great marketing strategy). My favorite's are London's Greatest Love Story, TeamUK, Go Hard Or Go Home and Take It. Super interesting hearing about how a hardcore band from North London would end up marketing themselves so differently and breaking through onto mainstream TV! TRC provide a good lesson in success - remain consistent, keep working no matter what the setbacks (in this case full time jobs, members needing to leave etc) AND most importantly; offer something. In TRC's case they had a great gimmick (well dressed fun guys combined with jokes and a fake "cocky," attitude) and decided to release a bunch of music videos themselves in order to gain attention... as Chris mentioned, it really worked! It got them on TV. This band had their own TV special on Scuzz back in about 2011 and still crush it these days, selling out venues on their UK tours.
