This is crazy and I am a bit ashamed of myself for I didn’t know that it was even a disorder like this, and obviously didn’t know Chris had it. 😞 and it is a shame that Will hit him. Like walked up and smacked him, it it was a non verbal attack. That’s like an extra low blow, like hitting someone that can’t see? They don’t see you coming/ don’t imagine or perceive what may be next… Just wow… 😢 And Will is bigger and younger too. I just can’t get over it.

@@MattFoleysGhost maybe take your woman hating elsewhere cuz last *I* checked, Jada didn’t do anything but get made fun of. She sat there trying to process everything just like everyone else. She didn’t even say anything. Her relationship with her husband didn’t force Will’s hand across Chris’s face. This is ALL Will. Both Jada and Will are independently wealthy-nothing is stopping Will from divorcing her. He LOVES her and WANTS to stay married to her. He’s a grown man making his own decisions. That being said, I believe everyone deserves a second chance, especially after you’ve been wonderful for DECADES leading up to the worst mistake of your public life-so I hope everyone can eventually forgive Will. And with all that now said, I feel absolutely the worst for Chris. He didn’t deserve that whatsoever. You NEVER hurt the defenseless, and in that moment, he was absolutely defenseless since he couldn’t read the situation storming at him.

I was diagnosed with NVLD at a very young age and have struggled with its symptoms my entire life. I often find it very difficult to talk about and explain to others as there is very little known about it and most people have never heard of it. Throughout my life I have felt extremely isolated and have had a hard time with relationships. I just want to speak to how much courage it takes to openly talk about this on tv like Chris has. It really means a lot to me to see someone with nvld be so successful. Thank you Chris

“You might have done something, or you acted out here or there.” Chris is advocating being kind to one’s self here. It helps to explain his response to Will Smith. Of course, knowledge of his disability changes a lot, too, with that conversation. Compassion, people. Compassion. And never respond to words with physical violence. I tend to think there’s a reason for everything; we can’t always see it. I tend to think that life is like an episode of Threes Company or Scooby Doo. At the end, everything that a secret is revealed. Then, everyone understands the dynamics and there are no hard feelings. I hope that proves to be the case. In any event, Chris Rock is admirable and we can all learn from his example on so many levels.

This made me look up Non-Verbal Learning Disorder and I realized I have it too. Reading the symptoms felt like having my childhood narrated, what the hell. I thought I had ADD, ADHD, Asperger or something similar but couldn't really relate with people I know who are diagnosed with ADHD or Asperger. I didn't have the hyperactivity, lack of impulse control or verbal ineptness. NVLD appears to be my disorder but it was a depressing read. It seems it's more biological and less environmental than I had hoped. Knowing that Chris Rock has it too is a consolation.

As someone with nonverbal learning disorder, I loved Chris' comments about group therapy. I'm in some online support groups, and being able to hear from other people with the same difficulties as you do makes such a huge difference for how you feel about yourself. It's hard to feel like you are a freak, like there is something really wrong with you, or wonder why things that are SO hard for you are apparently so easy for everyone else. Finding other people who also struggle with similar issues helps you realize that yes, you may have a lot of difficulty with some things, but these are not personal failings and you don't have to feel bad about yourself because of them. It's incredibly validating. Plus you can learn from others about things that might help you compensate for your difficulties.

I don't buy what they're selling Chris. I don't think there is anything wrong with the guy. Just because he's a comedian and can make some people uncomfortable doesn't mean he has a mental disorder. Case in point his reaction to 2 Girls 1 Cup was spot on. That video had no verbal queues in it but Chris reacted to it as any normal person should. I fear those "professionals" who diagnosed him are going to rob Chris of his genius all in the name of some disorder that may or may not apply to him.
@matthewvaneyk4713
@matthewvaneyk4713 4 ай бұрын
First of all it’s a learning disorder, not a mental disorder. Just because you “don’t think there is anything wrong with the guy” based on however many interview clips you’ve seen of him doesn’t negate the fact that he has a real disability, diagnosed by medical professionals regardless of whatever you may think of them being part of a perceived for profit system. Believe it or not there are mental health professionals that value helping others over monetary gain. That’s like saying you don’t believe someone has Dyslexia because they act and behave “normal”. That’s the concept behind hidden disabilities, they aren’t immediately obvious.
@onceagain77

@@matthewvaneyk4713 I have a so called learning disability and people couldn't care less about it. What I was trying to say I guess is everyone has problems. Do our weak points need be labeled as some disorder? I'm not saying Chris has any problems it's just that I don't see it and just because there's a label on it doesn't change my perception about him. I was labeled in the 1st grade just for having some trouble learning to reading. They put in a class room by myself for the majority of the school day. Because of that I learned I was inferior to everyone else in my class. It stunted my social growth and destroyed every bit of self esteem I could have. All because someone with a degree put a label on me. But in the end it all worked out for the school. They got federal aid money and a teacher got her pension. I have a sneaking suspicion that my learning disability came about because a dentist with a degree told my mother to get a florid treatment for us kids and I drank the whole bottle of that bubblegum flavored poison when I was around 4 years old.

@@onceagain77 I’m very sorry to hear how your diagnosis was handled that made you feel alienated from the rest of your classmates and toll on your self esteem. I and many others like yourself have experienced the social stigmatization associated with being labeled as having a learning disability . I’m 45, about to turn 46, at the time there was little in the way of understanding let alone resources available to people who have certain cognitive deficits, NLVD or otherwise, other than separation from the other students and substandard curriculum. It wasn’t fair to you, me and many others but that’s a different conversation. You were not inferior to everyone else in your class, you just have a different way of learning that wasn’t properly addressed. The fact is we do have a disability in that we struggle with certain concepts and processing that make it much more of a challenge to learn and navigate the world we live in. It has no bearing on intelligence because definitionally, people with learning disabilities have average to above average intellectual function. It’s neurological rather than developmental in nature; our brains are wired differently essentially. And acknowledging your condition, despite the negative connotations of the word disability, does not place a limitation on what you can accomplish or diminish in any way who you are as a person. Chris Rock coming forward with this diagnosis, relaying the struggle he’s had to endure and overcome as the result of his learning disability can inspire other people with learning disabilities that they too can be successful, that it’s not an impossibility because of their disorder and educate those who may have a false or negative perception of people dealing with the condition. That in the future kids diagnosed with learning disabilities don’t have to go through the same psychological trauma we faced growing up.
