Wow. This interview explains a lot. Watching this after the Will Smith-slapping debacle at the Oscars. It makes total sense to me now how Chris Rock was able to keep his composure. It seems he really took to heart all the lessons he's learned from his past difficult experiences, and to just rise above them and the bullies. And that is why and how he turned out to be the better man in that situation.

I noticed once that lots of people talk about having been bullied, but no one seems to talk about having been a bully. Watching this interview, I could find out that Chris Rock is really a wonderful and good hearted person. There’s no malice in his heart. He’s very funny and cheerful. I am sure Jada may have felt some hurt as I also deal with severe hair loss…… I understand what Will may have been feeling. I honestly get both sides….. you bring humor and Will was trying to protect his wife. I believe I may have wanted to come to my rescue; just not that way.
