@Phogadacbiet
@Phogadacbiet Ай бұрын
Unexpected takes for the sake of unexpected are incredibly lame. Simms is a hot take artist. His rankings are universally bad, but because he sometimes is right, he can point to that as his track record of “going against the grain.” Guys who are clearly better evaluators: Sikkema, Rogers, Brugler, Cosell, EJ Snyder, Kollman, Solak, Crabbs, Thatfranchiseguy, and Joe Marino (off the top) are all leaps and bounds ahead of simms.
@AkamatsuCreative
@AkamatsuCreative Ай бұрын
@@Phogadacbiet "sometimes is right" applies to every single prognosticator on the airwaves. Secondly, saying Simms rankings are "universally bad" is just incorrect. Thirdly, 'ranking' is just an opinion based on one's own metrics. This is exactly why different teams, scouts and pundits rank prospects differently. So there is no "wrong" unless you're talking about mock drafts predicting who will be drafted by which team. I think Simms does a good job of walking through his thought process and defensing his stances, which is what everybody tries to do to some extent. There's no rule that everybody's process has to land on the exact same rankings. Nate Tice has Drake Maye as his Number 1 QB prospect. Doesn't mean he's 'going against the grain for clicks'. It's just his opinion, whether people agree or disagree.
@Phogadacbiet
@Phogadacbiet Ай бұрын
@@AkamatsuCreative sure. Never said that anyone is 100% accurate. However, again, it’s one thing to go against the grain, it’s another to do it, so often, and so egregiously. Having the likes of: MHJ as 3rd, Alt and Fashanu behind Latham, listing Fautanu and Fuaga as guards, Terrion Arnold, Kool Aid, and DeJean not even in the top 5 CBs, and Johnny Newton as the FOURTH best DT, is absolutely insane. Simms Rankings at every position are all over the place. So much so, that yes, I can say they are universally bad. Remember he had Will Anderson, the DROY as his fifth best edge?? How about Jameson Williams over Drake London, Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson? Who could forget Dyami Brown over Jaylen Waddle. And, this guy also ranked Jalen Hurts, a starting nfl QB, out of the top 40 behind the likes of Kellen Mond. Yes, I absolutely can say his rankings are bad. Is universal, hyperbolic? Sure. However, is he wrong WAAAAY more than he’s right? Yes. Lastly, based on his metrics. If his metrics are wrong, this bad, this often, he should adjust. Or, be rightfully called out by people who see through his BS.
@AkamatsuCreative
@AkamatsuCreative Ай бұрын
@@Phogadacbiet I should have read your reply more carefully before replying. If you are basing things on just the rankings list, then I highly recommend watching/listening to the actual breakdowns, which are long and detailed, rather than just saying these rankings are against the consensus grain and therefore B.S. Also, think about the timing of the rollout of the mainstream takes on rankings - the majority of these solidified rankings are set months ago because they have to have solidified 'takes' for their media needs,. Then they have have to basically spend months defending them. It sucks for them, actually. Simms doesn't do his evals until Jan/Feb and then watches the prev 2-3 seasons' tape, based on a top 10-20 recommendation from his industry network. So he comes in late and deliberately avoids (according to him) listening to the mainstream takes. My point really is, just listen to the actual process rather than look at the final lists. Unless you think he's just a liar, in which case never mind.
@Phogadacbiet
@Phogadacbiet Ай бұрын
@@AkamatsuCreative mainstream doesn’t take effect until draft season. Case and point - 1. Maye, during the season, had smoke going number 1. It wasn’t until actual scouts started reviewing that Daniels was the odds on favorite at 2 2. Fautanu was a guard until the combine. Every ranking had him listed as such, now he’s a tackle 3. Payton Wilson was a 3rd, at best, prospect due to injuries. He’s now flying up boards after teams have conducted their own evals I have listened to Simms. Repeatedly, I, like him, now avoid listening to clear bias (him). His rationale for ranking Will Anderson so low was, “Well, production… but a lot of his sacks weren’t good” or something to that effect. If every draft analyst can see, on tape, special qualities, but he’s the outlier, doesn’t that indicate a flaw in his ability to actually scout? I fully understand that one poor ranking should not be indicative of his abilities, but it’s egregious. He repeatedly has atrocious rankings, and the rationale is not great. An overly long breakdown of a prospect doesn’t actually mean the insights are better than a screenshot of rankings. I mean, he has BTJ ahead of MHJ because…MHJ doesn’t show up to run block/takes plays off. That’s a horrible take, and really doesn’t require me to listen to anything more, at a minimum, on his rationale for WRs.

@@narddog2151 Yeah I mean nobody is gonna be perfect at this, there is to much projection involved, but at least Simms does the leg work, he watches as much film as he can. The NCAA says 17, Fox 17, ESPN 17, Sports Illustrated 17, yet there are analysts out there saying 33, and the only place I see that number is on Reddit, or some no name sight. The only reason I knew about the Wilson stuff, is because there was a female gymnasts who left the Olympics because they wouldn’t let her take it, and she said she couldn’t perform without out, because she would get lost in the air. So when. I read the piece on Zach Wilson, I kind of put two and two together. But Wilson had good traits. I think it’s hard job when people are like here are 5 QB’s and you work for a network, it’s like you can’t trash them, so they have to tip toe around issues. Cause the NFL wants the draft hype. Oh and rank them, and blah, blah, blah. The 2021 class was a hard evaluation, lots of traits guys, lots of projection. This class I think is easier, just cause, guys like Penix, Daniels, and Nix, have a ton of tape. Caleb has a good amount. The projection and trait guys are JJ, and Maye, and that’s because they didn’t play as much and have less tape. They are more raw guys. A lot is gonna depend on where they land. If you are Caleb it’s like ok, Bears have a defense, an OC who is good with QB’s, Moore, Allen, Kmet, Everett, Swift, alright, I can work with that’s, that’s not bad. Washington at least has a couple weapons, so maybe the guy they draft is like Ok, Kingsbury, a couple of decent WR’s. Not horrible. But if you are Maye, or JJ and New England is like oh boy we gonna draft you. That’s not a good place for a young QB right now. If I’m those two guys I’m like please dear god let the Vikings trade up. Really good coaches, great Oline, Jefferson, a good TE. While Penix and Nix probably feel like they are in better spots, probably hoping to land in Denver. Maybe a team like LA to back up Stafford, worse case is like Vegas, but you still got players to work with there. Maybe Seattle. Teams that could be hard on the players that are more raw like the Pats, or Giants, is scary for them. Jets could draft a QB, Rodgers is in his 40’s. The guys who currently have the best chance of success are the guys going to the best situations. Things could be very hard on JJ and Maye early on. Atlanta would have been another good spot for a rookie QB. Good weapons, good line. But they went with Cousins. Part of projection is where they land. If the Bears land Odunze or Nabers, or Alt… for the first time in 40 years there are worse places for a QB to go other than the Bears. If I’m any of those guys, I’m like, yeah take me, I guess can work with those WR if you twist my arm. Life is a lot easier when you got Jefferson, or Moore, and Allen. It doesn’t mean a guy going to a bad situation is a bad prospect if he struggles. Just means it’s a tough situation for a rookie QB.

@@HTTR.Redskins Wtf? Darnold is 6'3" 225 lbs, has a rocket arm - try watching some of the tight windows he hit with DJ Moore in 2022. Maybe watch Maye missing barn doors all season with NC. Sam led the NFL in rushing TDs for the first half of the 2021 season - like RBs as well. Maybe also watch Darnold avoid many, many sacks behind a dreadful Panthers line for 2 seasons. I'm not sure that Maye is anywhere near as good as Darnold in any of the characteristics mentioned. After watching all Maye's throws and plays in 2023 - I wouldn't be surprised if Maye ends up QB4. His throwing accuracy is terrible at all levels.

Sam doesn’t need to sit. After what that trash organization did to him every year will be easy. Grubb is going to love coaching Sam Howell. Sam will thrive immediately in his offense. I’m sure Adam Peters is saying to himself that maybe I shouldn’t draft Drake Maye based on Chris’s Simms analysis. I had a 5th round grade on Jayden Daniels. I’ve been going to UNC for years and extremely high on Drak Maye. But, oh boy, if Chris Simms has him at QB6 then so will I. The 10,000+ all purpose yards he put up in only two years is meaningless. Yep, we need to change our draft board immediately. Aside from all the other misses by Chris Simms, that doesn’t matter. QB6 it is.

What would Chris Simms know about being an accurate passer? This loser threw MORE interceptions in the NFL than touchdown passes. Just look at the stat sheet. If he was inaccurate it would show up in the completion %. His completion % is fine. He is talking out of his ass. People compare him to Josh Allen, but Josh had completion % in the 50s. Drake's in a bad year is still mid 60s which is fine.
