Was simon wright a good drummer for acdc?
@joseguillermoquiroz48834 жыл бұрын
Simon Wright was not the problem, it was a mistake by Angus and Malcolm for becoming producers without previous experience, Simon came just at a bad time that the band simply stopped, it is very unfair to speak as if the fault was his, to me It seems there is not a song that has played badly, Rudd and Slade maybe are better but Simon is not a bad drummer either, not at all.

Watch Chris Slade play "let there be rock" live at Donington 91´. He plays 8´th notes in 15 minutes, at a tempo out of this world. Then you´ll all shut up in here. Music/drumming isn´t all about technic, but timing certainly is! - especially the drums.

My favorite Brian quote: "It doesn't bother me at all if you want to call our music 'soft rock', you can call it whatever you like, we will keep doing what we like best"

To those not impressed or to those mindlessly defending him like he was on the top of his game: AGE NATURALLY DESTROYS SKILLS. It's just a sad fact of life. When people get older, they lose much of what made them great when they were younger. Unless you tirelessly keep at it like Vinnie Colaiuta every day (which most professionals simply don't do when they get older), your technique will suffer. The musicality will still be there, but actually doing what you want to do becomes much, much harder. There will come a time when Colaiuta won't sound very good either. He'll know what he wants to play, but won't be able to do it properly. These legends may not have the skills to compete with young musicians today, but they sure had those skills back in their day.

You are 100% right with your oservation if your talking about players who are using the same principals, drum set ups and regular drum sticks. But there is always something more - more places you can look at to keep fresh and efficient in drumming. Chris Slade is a very influential drummer in my book, but not as much as Steve Gadd or Stewart Copleand. First time I heard Chris Slade is on Manfred Mann's "Nightingales and Bombers" - about 40 years ago. I was very impressedwith his clean drum sound and playing on that album. His ACDC years where quite good too! Check out my KZbin channel - I am constantly working on my set ups and techniques - depending on task and mood of the music.
