@@jagnyy5444 Thanks for your most respectful mature reply , you know where the lyrics and music came from , so Chris has claimed he while jamming came up with music he has never acknowledged the music is from "I'd rather go blind " if that's not a rip-off you tell me what it is. who knows why there was no legal action , it doesn't matter, Chris says he is the music creator , he isn't as you yourself have acknowledged. BTW there are many instances where songs are covered / ripped off/ and no legal action takes place , it's irrelevant to the fact that this is a rip-off Chris has given credit to " dillon/ hargrove, but not to the writers / composer's of " I'd rather go blind " if you can't acknowledged this is a rip-off , well that's because probably as a Chris stapelton fan you are in total deniel. :-)

Written by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove in 1981. Theres a live version with Justin Timberlake, which I feel like JT shoulda stayed off stage for. There are a couple live versions as they should be done with the usual deeper feeling and exaggerated phrasing you'd enjoy. You can really tell a good singer by their rendidtion of the National Anthem and his is gold.

The first two releases of this song, the first by David Alan Coe and the second by George Jones are arguably pure country. If you look at the history of American music, you would see that country, soul, R&B, and jazz evolved along side each other with many artist crossing back and forth. Just different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. A lot of songs have been sung in country, soul, R&B, jazz and even pop versions.

I danced with my husband to this song at our wedding. In Tennessee. Do we have family there? Not a soul. Do we have friends there? Not a soul. We went there because we wanted to get married in a place where we felt liquor was allowed and rescue could be necessary - in a marriage. Honest from the jump. Our vows to one another were spoken in 4 words: “WE are a team”. I love your reaction to this! At first, I thought dad was being disrespectful, playing on his phone 😂 then I realized he was reading the lyrics! Have either of you seen or heard Chris singing James Brown’s A Man’s World - LIVE?! The band called him onstage - there was no rehearsal. And Chris nailed it! I’ll find the link and comment with it - if you’re taking them, that would be my request 🙂
