My girlfriend and I went thru a similar phase in our relationship. Never stopped loving each other but it was empty and lacking substance but outside lookin in,it looked like things were fine...Im grateful to have stuck it out and now our relationship is something we could’ve never dreamed of. Hang in there y’all.

It's not actually. It's about being selfless. Women tend to put too much emotion into their own decisions when they involve other people. Women will stay FOR the other person. To not hurt THEM. He is taking that away by saying it won't matter. She can make the decision that is best for HER. He's being selfless.

This song reminds me of the last ten years of my first marriage. We actually communicate more now than when we were married. The thing that did destroy me was not seeing my kids every single day.
@thunderballz743 жыл бұрын
I can't do that ...no matter my heart.💔. Yeah my first marriage tore me down but 15yrs later 2nd marriage built me up and been flying since 14yrs with 5 children...and they need me like i need them and 1 day away from them kills me..I could not imagine every other weekend. Two weeks? 4 days a month..oh God that would be hell. Damn chris...he is a master songwriter and in any style of music he can bring out any emotion he wants from a crowd or 47 year old son, father and grandfather..i have the best titles in the world and i'll not let life take the title belt from me.

I lived this life. Down to the last word. 8 years later after we grew a little we started talking again, and fell back into the deepest love ever. July 17 2019 at around 5:45 there was a wreck on I-40 my baby girl never made it home. Love with all your heart, and live each day like it's your last. It may be. So Please call the one you love and let them know how much you love them. You may not have another chance.

I still stand by what I commented on. Everyone has their viewpoint. When "he" is the one crying and "he" is the one confused over what went wrong. He also states she doesn't feel anything towards him.That's why I stand by him not, her. What happened caused a big rift, who knows, he definitely doesn't. Maybe she snagged him, then showed true colors afterwards becoming distant. He doesn't talk about guilt doing something to wrong her, as she can't hate him. However she can't hurt him, as he built up an indifference towards her. He's done dealing with her and possibly the isolation of not being loved. The perfect life is a lie being perpetuated to the outside world. Why? Why not leave? Whatever happened between them, the battle is over no more love from him. He's giving her the choice, but, nothing will change as his has gone dry. Others would have walked away and divorced, he is stating whatever she does he'll abide by her decision but won't change the now and future of how they interact. Lyrics: "We pass in the hall on our way to separate rooms The only time we'll ever talk is when the monthly bills are due We go to work, we go to church We fake the perfect life I passed the point of giving a damn All my tears are cried We can just go on like this Say the word, we'll call it quits Baby, you can go or you can stay But I won't love you either way It's been so long since I've felt Anything inside these walls You can't hate, you can't hurt When you don't feel at all I used to cry and stay up nights And wonder what went wrong And it's been hard But hearts can only do that for so…"

I don't know about anyone else but Prince personified what an artist truly can and should be, you can tell it hadn't been rehearsed much, but it was imperfect and passionate and truly heart felt, just Beautiful. I needed it, I think we all need Prince now.

Been there, done that. Whether it's a marriage or a relationship, one grows tired of fighting over the pettiest things, disillusioned with the other, dreams turned into reality or, sadly one truly loved and the other didn't & maybe was trying to change someone into something they aren't & it turns them mean. It happens more than anyone truly realizes it.

The fact that he is fine "either way" especially since he won't love her even if she stays tells you of the hopelessness he (the song's narrator) has felt for so long. Like there won't be anything else out there for him anyway, so whatever. Stay. Go. It's all the same to him. It's not: leave so we can both find better matches for us. It's: whatever, I feel nothing and don't see how that will change whether I'm free or not. That's what makes this so sad for me. How severe and how long must the [lack of] feelings be to get to that point? Ugh.
