He was a song writer in Nashville for Yrs. Many have number 1 hits from him. After his father passed his girlfriend, now wife and backup singer, talked him into recording his own songs. The rest is history. They now have 5 kids and about his 4th number 1 album. He is great. His guitar is like another voice.

@BuffaloC3053 жыл бұрын
And do the VIDEO - the commercialized video FIRST. You can see his live versions later... but for once, I recommend the Commercial Video. One good reason for this recommendation: he was instrumental in 'writing' the video's plot - it was in his mind when he wrote this song, and translating his vision into our visuals 'just had to be'. So yes, what the commercial video and treat yourself to a whole new level of Stapleton's artistry.

Hope that things have gotten better. This comment hits home for me since my parent's stayed together for the kids but they were both miserable and made everyone in their radius miserable. It would be much better to have parents that have both moved on into happier, healthier relationships. All kids learn from parents who aren't happy is what a dysfunctional relationship looks like, and the justification and coping mechanisms that you use to stay in it. If you have to stay together due to finances or whatever, only focus on giving whatever you can at every small opportunity. It's painful and it's hard not to feel resentful when it's not reciprocated, but the only love we keep is the love we give away. You can give your kids half an example of functional relationship for your kids.

"Who can relate?" 🙋🏼♀️ I'm pushing 40 now. Starting completely over after 20 years with my son's father. 10 years of that was spent just like this song. I finally got to the point where I just didn't care anymore. I wasted so many years, not just of mine, but his too. I thought if I couldn't make it work, then I was a failure. That was selfish, & it took me a long time to realize that (too long). So, i can relate to this 100%.

My ex husband basically said this to me, I decided to let him go. I loved him so much but he was a mess, confused and wreck inside. It hurt so bad but there was nothing I could do. We tried everything. It’s strange because he would call me when he was struggling afterwards, I don’t know why. I’ve moved on since then and never thought I could feel so loved and wanted because of the hurt, I thought I was unlovable but now I know he just didn’t love himself so he couldn’t love me, he had nothing to give. I want my ex to be whole and have peace... I pray for him all the time. This song brought back some 13 years ago feelings. Nobody wants to feel like that. Ugh. 😢💔

As soon as I hear this song, it stops me in my tracks. It is that powerful. I have been in love and married to the most beautiful woman imaginable for going on 40 years and the thought of somehow losing that love is beyond heartbreaking.
