He said “if you don’t want to play someone’s signature edition”: We’ll Chris I’m looking at mine sitting here in my living room and proud to have one. I went into the store looking for a Kemper profiler and saw this sitting there and thought “man that’s an old brown face amp. What tard would trade in an amp like that for anything in this store. Realized it was a new reissue amp, sat down and played it and for a week the damn thing haunted me. My Unibox amp wouldn’t get that brown face outta my head so went back and played the shit out of it. Walked out store, turned my car on and thought about how many of Stapleton songs were done with it, went back in and bought it. I’ll never sell it. Thanks Chris for sharing your pursuit of tone with me.

I’ve never been a heavy country listener but when I heard this guy on the Joe Rogan podcast I couldn’t deny how genuine he seemed. Sure enough ended up loving his music and his guitar playing. @ebiddy42766 жыл бұрын
It isn't quite as loud as the Deluxe Reverb and a little more present in the midrange. The tremolo is a little different. The Princeton (6g2) tremolo is a capacitor circuit and the Deluxe (AB763) is an optical.

Brown face 1961-1963....best, so underrated fender amp circuits. Electric cream.
@richiesguitarshanktuary692311 ай бұрын
I used to think the blackface amps were the best ever cause srv was my biggest influence. Then I started sitting down with amps like the tweeds and brownface style amps and discovered while I still love the black and silver face tones with the mid scoop I definitely favor the tweed and brownface tones. Sometimes I mean a bit more to the tweed era as I feel there's just a bit more of a nuance happening there that alot of brownface amps don't have. It's really obvious with the cleans. But the brownface has the advantage with cranking it cause the circuit isn't as bass heavy so it doesn't get flubby on the lows like alot of the tweed amps

OK, with all due respect, there is a pedal that does the biased modulating tube circuit at high voltage. It even sounds like your amp and the Brown Faces through the interwebings. It’s a great amp. Everything he says is true. Small package, big punch on this one and unbeatable tremolo. Bigger punch than those 65 and 68 Princeton reverb reissues. The custom eminence 12 speaker in these is very good. I’ve pushed it hard without blowing the cone. But because I have to change everything to get my tone in my head, I have swapped it for a creamback celestion 12, 16 ohm, 90 watt alnico speaker and now it ROARS. And I think unlikely to blow the cone, which happens a lot on 10 inch speakers in Princetons. This amp has got you covered from coffee house to stadium. Mike Campbell could opine.
@sheercerebralpower5 жыл бұрын
If I compare this to my vintage 62 Princeton with the 10“ speaker,this amp really does the job fantastically.I always had to use an extension 1x12“ cab(with an EV 12l) to get the amp decent sounding.With this factory modified 12“ Princeton I leave the extension cab in my studio.....

It's about time Fender realizes that the Brownface era was the most fascinating period in the history Fender amps: so many new innovations happened during that short 3-or-so year period. The 6G2 Princeton stands there among the very best amps ever made, Fender or otherwise. Perhaps a 6G3 Deluxe reissue next? Let alone the 6G6-B Bassman and 6G7-A Bandmaster...

Good gravy!!! What a tone!! Especially for a technical reissue! And that tremolo effect on the brown face designs! And i know these have a modification of a 12 inch speaker instead of a 10. Sometimes the 10 is perfect for gigs like me with a duo project where im not battling a drummer and volume is a concern. But that 12 is great for the brownface and blackface princetons if you want to get some more oomph. Especially for the princeton reverb since it has that classic blackface mid scoop. Which the brownface has a leg up with since due to the lack of the tone stack it naturally has more of a mid push. Which as many gigging musicians know is crucial Especially in a band with a keyboard or extra guitarist.

Brownface fenders had harmonic tremolo. It sounds like a trem and a phaser had a baby.
@mscheiner106 жыл бұрын
Stefan Bukcev brownface Princeton and Deluxes didn’t have harmonic trem. It’s a bias tremolo. Hard to say what they did with this amp (not much playing in this video), but if it’s a true reissue of the 62 circuit, it should be bias trem, not harmonic trem. The higher powered brown face amps (think super, on up) were the amps from that era with harmonic trem.

It would change the circuit/tone having more in line like that. Also, more gigs you play, less reverb you’ll need most of the time cause of the room. The best you can do IMO is have an outboard spring installed or use a spring with it in top. My favorite amp I own is a custom Victoria . He took his 45410 (a 59 bassman) and put in 212 instead of 410s and installed a spring reverb tank in the bank that runs in front of the amp). Perfect amp for me
