Chris Stapleton started his career making millions writing songs for all the most famous country singers out there . Somebody asked him one day why he doesn't sing his own songs, and soon enough he wound up in the studio. Thank God for whoever asked him that damn question because he is one of the most talented artists of our generation! If you don't mind getting a little teary eyed, take a listen to "fire away". Chris has an incredible way of provoking true emotions with his music.

Chris is very blues influenced. To that end, let me give you a list of blues singers with voices that will also leave you speechless. Maybe make you tear up a bit. They do me anyway. Magic Sam - "My love will never die". Great song too. Otis Rush - the same song or "So Many Roads" live. Johnny Copeland - "Down on bending knees" Elmore James - "goodbye baby". He often sang himself into tears it sounded like. And another kind of music, Irish Folk. Anything with Luke Kelly. He did a song called "the night visiting song" like 3 weeks before he died. It's heartwrenching. Also, "the unquiet grave". Possibly the saddest song I've ever heard. One more in this same genre. "Grace" by Jim McCann. I had no idea that the version of that I was listening to was right before he lost his voice due to throat cancer. It's very telling and admirable the heart and soul great singers have even in the worst of times.
