I think the "skipping" stuff people have been telling him to do is an attempt at not infringing copyrights. I've seen it explained on a couple of other "reaction" channels. That's the gist of it...to keep some "bean counter" that works in the "Copyrights" FCC office off of their asses... some other "reaction" channels I've seen explain it before they hit "play" that their will be stoppages every so often. During those they give their opinions on the music, vocals. Then, most rewind what was missed and play it over.

This is what country music is supposed to sound like Nashville corporate has ruined it with this main stream crap. The origin of country music comes from the mountains where Irish,British, and black Americans mingled and enjoyed each others styles of playing. Country music roots are folk and blues combined.

I love to see the reactions of people outside the normal stereotypical “arena country”. Everyone says the same thing...”country!?...this doesn’t sound like country!”, and you’re all exactly right. Generational talents who spring up from time to time such as Stapleton just don’t fit any conventional molds and certainly in this case, lean toward heavy blues influences. Trouble is, there’s just not a market for true Blues anymore than there ever was so it takes an amazingly talented soul to get it through. Great job bro.

No need to be sorry about saying he “sounds like a black person, like a black blues singer.” My dad who loves all forms of music said when he first heard Chris “he sounds like a black person singing, damn good.” He truly has one of the best if not the best voice of this generation. He could sing the alphabet or a phone book and make it sound good. Just realized this is coming from my daughters account.

Reminds me of: James Brown, Al Green, Otis Redding, & top of my list...Bill Withers (aka known in 1970-1980's as the 5th Beatle. He preformed countless studio sessions & stage appearances w/ them). Bill Withers...could transform feeling, emotion, & reaction saying the same phrase! Anyway...this guy was underground 4 so many years. After a while made it into country scene then easily transitioned from country music 2 pop, & r&b....also did hit blues w/ Justine Timberlake.

I keep following the roots back. I’d love to see some older r&b. Etta James, Big Mama Thornton, Muddy, Robert Johnson, Sam & Dave. Gosh, there so many artists that are so cool! Rufus Thomas, Otis Redding, Mavis Staples. You have to ask yourself ... where did Janis Joplin’s sound come from. Merge old and new with Bonnie Raitt and John Lee Hooker doing In the Mood. Or the concert on KZbin blending Albert King with Stevie Ray. There is just so much great blues/ r&b out there to learn from

Chris is white man, blues, soulful. We all cry. Lord knows I do. Man brings the blues like a bad man. I have met and played with BB King. He would have asked Chris to do a show with him, I am sure. He does a sad country, the country where folks are depressed, economically and spiritually. Were he to get the Holy Ghost, he would be a preacher too.
@bamachine5 жыл бұрын
It really isn't modern country, this is taking back to old school country, which was much closer to the blues. That is why this is greatness in the midst of a bunch of pop country, which I abhor. FTR, I am a rock guy but I love old school rap, blues, country, funk, etc. Most music today, does not get me. Another suggestion, if you have not checked them out are The Alabama Shakes, also check out Jason Isbell. Neither of them are country, Shakes are kind of modern blues, Isbell is in a genre known as Americana.
@armynurseboy5 жыл бұрын
