Yes Chris started out in Blue Grass with a band called Steel Drivers; they are Awesome. You can pull up live performances of them with Chris as their front man. Since his solo career they have had 2 different front men.

Chris sings and plays the blues,country,soul,rock,bluegrass and probably anything else he wanted to play. He is his own genre. Check out Chris doing Barely Alive the live acoustic version. This is a great rabbit hole to fall into. Enjoy the ride.

He is in a group called STEELDRIVERS. Blue Grass, also his earlier career the Southern Rock groups called JOMPSON BROTHERS, Very good music in any area he sings!!! Chris will hit you in your soul,. First reactions always follow the same pattern: initial reserved anticipation.. wait this is blues.. first line skank face then recheck that yup, he's white... The first few short runs give you a false sense of ease until the bomb run hits you... And if you are not sold by then, the 2nd verse falsetto seals the deal.
