I have similar rod rest and I made a cross bar that clips to the front poles to stop them splaying. I used 2x plastic 15 mm pipe clips and screwed to square length of wood that overhangs then two bits of half cut plastic piping screwed to overhang to accommodate 3 rd rod or rigs. Had it for years 👍👍
