Rainier Rowse I heard his version today for the first time ever and I gotta say I was really blown away by it. Such a great song and one of my favorites that I’ve had fun learning how to play.

He would rather serve the music. If the music needs that kind of thing, he'll show what he can do, like anyone would, but with him it's always the music first, not technique.

His normal playing is showing off in my opinion. He's an incredible musician, top 5 of all times in my opinion.

+Mythias Williams Agreed; his straightforward playing is incredible, too. And he certainly does show off in live performance, because that's partly what people want to see and hear. However, when someone asked why there weren't more blazing mandolin solos on their [at the time] new album, Who's Feeling Young Now, he said that blazing mandolin solos get old fast on a record, but that there will be plenty of them on tour.

***** I agree, When you hear too much of a good thing it becomes an 'okay' thing. But yes, I agree he wasn't balls to the walls on this song. And that shows that he too can sorta mellow out. Sort of like his ookpik waltz and Tennessee waltz. Simple but elegant.
