Fantastic!…As usual, for the “Dynamic Duo”, Daves and Thile. Man, that’s good stuff.

Thats a bluegrass shindig and he is unwinding. That classical shit can get boring after a while and this is a great way to release stress. One of my favorite musicians!!! a very talented man

Chris Thile and Michael Daves compliment one another so well.....Im so thankful that a whole new generation of mandolin and guitar players will be ushered in thanks to talent of this caliber, my son 16, had absolutely no interest in acoustic music untill Chris Thile, now he listens to all the bluegrass I grew up with and love so much, just when you think it can't get anybetter, it does! Thanks for posting this absolutely amazing performance!

Love Chris Thile. Been listening to him since he was about 10...before "leading off". He looks drunk in this clip...he could play drunk better than anyone else on this earth could play sober.

There are those that argue that Bill Monroe's 1940s recording of this was the first true rock'n roll song!

What more do you want the guy to do? The guy is only 31 and he's put out 11 albums and tours constantly. And he has written a four movement mandolin concerto that has been comissioned by several different orchestras. The guy has done more in his life at this point then most musicians do in their entire lifetimes.

Oh my gosh...that last mandolin break was other-worldly.

Thank you for identifying the other players; much appreciated. They are all so obviously having such a wonderful time enjoying the music and each other's playing -- this is the gift of music!

Rosie Newton on fiddle. Check out her stuff w/ Rose and the Bros and Richie Stearns (and many more projects).. She's got some real old time and cajun stuff going on with that fiddle. Groove city. Can't get enough of it.

I’ve got to hear you do an Elmore James slide guitar version of “Dust My Broom”, and, “Blues Before Sunrise”, and Mississippi John Hurt cover of, “That Lonesome Valley”. Please record those on your “Lonesome Fridays”, if you’re feeling inclined. Those songs need to be interpreted by you, and preserved in your style for posterity, Michael. Please, with sugar on top, pretty please, record those songs!

I honestly can't tell if he's on really good coke or we're just not used to seeing him on a normal camera (+ the effects of such an energizing performance). Who knows, seen plenty of sober musicians get even more into it than that.

Man, if they could repeat this performance on Letterman or Leno's show, their stock would definitely go up. I think they captured lightning in a bottle here.

Chris should be the leader for a mix of the best musicians, replacing ricky skaggs and bill monroe. I think he found a bottle or pipe and chose to tune-out -- aside from Ricky Williams leaving Miami high and dry, Chris is the biggest upset-loss of our generation. We have mozart living among us and he could be leading a revolution in high-end instrumentals. Screw diversity -- Chris you are the one that can change the music world. Do it.
