I bought a Mercedes SLC. I needed some crankshaft bearing shells, my local Mercedes Said there’s none on the system. We can’t help you for over a month. I rang around the country and found a Mercedes garage in Nottingham an independent garage. He got me the shells from Mercedes in 3 days so call them give them a try.

Chris, simple maths says 49000 gbp… you missed the panels I guess…. Again it shows that for people not having a reasonable income generating KZbin channel it is not worth redoing these cars, since it will cost the same as a non crash damaged one. That being said, I am always looking forward to viewing your content. Keep up the good work. You deserve a much bigger number of subscribers!

The cheapest intact AMG GT that I found was £46k, also in blue. That rebuilding business isn’t going all that well here if it’ll cost a lot more to put back on the road than getting a brand new second hand one. Isn’t the point to buy it cheap, fix it and still be quids in at the end?

Really enjoying this, having been a panel beater for 20 years I can see two obvious problems, one it’s a Mercedes, great cars but high price on body parts, ( like you have found eBay often want twice the price for used parts for Mercedes and BMW new ones, 🤬) and a rare newish car means not a common breakers yard car, new prices will push you up to a good second hand car price 🙁

Hi Chris, I think your not a bad business person even after 42k and it cost you another 10k your have a mint Merc. The others you showed you don’t know the real condition from. Plus you would have calculated this before you started. You have connections with Mat Armstrong and his crew and your always in his videos so no doubt got his feed back. You also appear with Mark McCann who is a true car person in his own right. So my point is your well connected and that Your Chris character portrays a guy who’s fixing cars to get to their goal but in real life your more than that. You’re clearly a perfectionist and that goes from putting the cars together to cleaning them to doing your KZbin presentations. Saying you’re not good at business is clearly untrue. Great video, production and content.

At this point I'm considering not selling my GTS but breaking for parts, GT's are the less desirable ones and are available to buy in the late 40's so sorry dude the rarity of these cars and the lack of crossover parts from other cars means this one back on the road is going to have your knickers down.

Think he knew going in for this he wouldn't make money out of it, they know they'll be lucky on many to break even. It's all about being able to get multiple interesting videos for KZbin and slowly grow on each build. Then when big enough audience you can raffle it off to subscribers. With these more unique higher ends car builds you're highly unlikely to do much better than break even on a private market sale

The prices on Copart nowerdays are insane. I don't know why, but it seems like so many people are prebidding, and pushing the value of cars up so high. After the copart fees + cost to collect the car, often it seems like you're already at the price that the car would be selling for as a CATN/S. I honestly think regular people are driving up the prices of the salvage cars, after watching KZbinrs like yourself and Mat Armstrong, not understanding CAT cars are more like 75-80% of the shown value on the website.

This back order nonsense for parts on relatively new cars is costing everybody via increased insurance premiums. Insurance companies are writing off cars that are perfectly fixable because the wait for parts (or non availability of parts) means repair costs can escalate. The cost to motorists and the environment is unacceptable.
