Genuinely an insane achievement, massive respect to Tom and Pete. As soon as I saw them leave the cams in place I just knew those bitter old guys were going to have a problem with it. And then, after they did it the second time, he STILL had an issue because they did it using less protection than he’d have felt comfortable with but guess what bud, you didn’t do it did you!
@lostleviathan2352 Жыл бұрын
He does come off as a bit bitter but I think he's also trying to give anyone who gets the same idea a bit of pause. He's saying, 'they did it risky & I'm not personally comfortable with that level of risk' which is fair enough

Great movie! I'm personally not a big fan of the "it does not count" comment. I think it's important to be transparent about which style you did a climb, but down playing a climb that you were not able to do because the style of the ascensionist isn't yours is a bit narrow minded. It's like Honnold telling Ondra that silence does not count because he used a rope.

Wow! I saw the short version some time ago, but this was so much better! What an achievement and so we'll earned! What I have to admit is, that this "not a true ascend" leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If it'd been what Tom and Pete had wanted and planned, ok, I'd respect that. But other people complaining and putting on pressure seems quite honestly toxic. I'm sorry to say that, but because of obscure "ethics" making other people basically risk their health - heck, even life! - that' (to me) just does not seem right. I am so glad, that it worked out fine in the end, but the enormous achievement should not be shadowed by staying on the safe(r) side.
