@jon gibson There was clearly a lot of time, effort, and thought that went into this film, exploring the human behind one of the leaders of modern climbing and the historical progression of the sport. To throw a 50 minute film of this quality out to the public without asking for any money in return is very generous and I will watch it over and over without complaint :)

Well the fingers are in agony if not numb at that point. So what they are doing is looking if looks as bad as it feels. Most, if not all, athletes at that level have constant pain signals they just ignore. You can't just give up. If it's not broken or bleeding, it can be fixed later

Impressed. Even if I try 50 times and finally climb the route, the move is almost completed by the 10th try. At that moment I'm convinced that this is going to climb, but as Megos said at last, knowing that I can climb is different from actually climbing. So the remaining 40 times for RP are not fun climbing. It is regrettable, painful, irritable, work-like and boring. However, suddenly a move or notice to move forward led to the completion of the climb. This film tells about RP is able to find such a process and part of life.

Thankyou for sharing the raw journey which was deeply touching and nostalgic for many of us who have attempted to climb hard and have experienced similar failures, as well as the same feelings of euphoria and success after achieving something after many days of battle (even if nothing in comparison). Capturing the mental challenges are not often done justice in many climbing films but was poised brilliantly here.

This is so inspiring, I like the emphasis on failure being ok, you only get see others successes on social media and it sometimes means viewing yours as failure, This film has the crucial reminder that every success in climbing is only met as the result of a litany of failed attempts, at the end of the day the real satisfaction in success is reflection on the journey that led you there.

Excellent filming, editing, and storytelling! And a little bit of hyperbole. There's no doubt about Megos's abilities and potential as a climber, but that he can climb "way harder than the existing grades"? Way harder than 5.15d/9c? That would mean at least harder than 9c+/10a, no? Come on, give the guy some slack. Obvious talent, no doubt about that, but he's just done his first 9b+, and not too many 9b before that. Hopefully he'll be the second to tick off a 9c, and who knows after that, maybe we'll see the 9c+ number sooner rather than later.

Use correct quotes. His trainer said “physically he is able to climb way harder” but in the same sentence he said “but the mental part is not easy”... so his trainer gave a hint they know what they need to improve to climb ‘way harder’. And his trainer for sure knows his potential better than all of us commenting here.
