this is very hilarious not only because the choreography puts in silly movements here and there, but also because the grand pas de deux is supposed to show the unison, harmony and trust between the dancers, but here the choreography shows two lovers getting competitive and hindering each other, in other words relationship starting to fall apart. mirroring the real life situations and that becomes relatable.

@@mitica-mar oh...idk...i didnt think it was that deep comment..i mean, if you ask around a longtime married couple who have been through ups and downs of their lives together... it will be fairly easy for them to see what i saw. real life experiences help you grasp artistic ideas i guess. in the end, art is a reflection of human life experiences.

It takes an insane degree of expertise to make these "wrong" moves look accidental yet so perfectly controlled ! That was so funny yet beautiful, proof that great ballet dancers can do just about what they want, taking their art seriously yet not taking themselves seriously. I laughed so much, I will think about this this evening when taking my 4rth dance class this week ! Because I never look so perfect when I make mistakes...

I love it when classical ballet dancers send themselves up. They have great comic timing

What glorious fun, and so well danced. What is also worth noting (I think) is the brilliant filming ... one camera only. One camera person who knows what he/she is doing, knows the ballet and knows how to film ballet. No multiple cameras, no silly camera angles, no endless and pointless edits. We see the whole ballet as choreographed and danced and, also, as viewed from the best seats in the house. There are a number of films of this wonderful piece, performed by great dancers and, to my mind, ruined by horrendous filming and editing and thus so frustrating. This is a joy to watch (many many times) and thank you to all concerned. Bliss!

I’ve performed professionally in ballet (not the big companies), and funny enough it can be just as hard to do this “incorrectly”, and not just because it’s counter intuitive but still requires precision to “do it incorrectly”. 😉

However, whenever our teacher was out of the room for any amount of time, or during rehearsal breaks we would do mock ballet choreo to crack each other up. We usually got caught by the choreographer or teacher. After they finished laughing we were treated to millions of leaps, Fuentes and anything else they could think up that would make us walk like cowboys for 2 days. (whispering🤫🤫…but it was worth it! 🤐🤐Don’t tell anybody!)

I’ve been on a spree of Le grand pas de deux and this is by far the best one. It’s not perfect ofc but it feels so much more fluid than ones that are perfectly technical. Feels very real, and the music completes it well
