As a lifelong fan of the dance, I really enjoyed this! In fact I may be sending you a doctor bill for fixing my dislocated jaw 😉 The biggest thing I miss since leaving the NYC area is the lack of ballet, and while I grew up on Baryshnikov, Nureyev and those greats it never stopped me from appreciating newer talent. This collection gave me great joy! Thank you from an aging ballet fan!

kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpaYZZaEoqqKrdEsi=UHJuRbtEaZQ6JdUg I'm sure you'll need jaw surgery after viewing this piece by a dancer Not many have had the opportunity to see live such as I have. Desmond Richardson. He is one half of the Contemporary Dance Company called COMPLEXIONS Contemporary Ballet, which, as you can see from its name, probably was no received well in middle America. But if you would, you can find many a thrilling pieces he and his partner Dwight Oden have choreographed together.

What a lovely comment! It’s so refreshing to find a positive attitude amongst people who identify themselves as older fans. There is an unfortunate tendency to say/write sadly or smugly “Things were better in my day. We will never see anything like it again ever.“ I’ve even seen this among 20 year old K-pop fans bemoaning that the music they loved in middle school is so much better than what’s being produced now. 😂 Best wishes! 🙏🧡🎶🩰💐

Paul Marque is a superb dancer. I'm not sure that the Paris orchestra tempo was quite "Ashtonian". Take a look at Steven McRae performing the same variation at the Royal Ballet. It should be a little faster and that would prevent the small rebound at the end when Marque drops down onto two hands.

Dancer #9(Cesar) and #6 (Vadim) #3(Daniil) did all or the majority of their air and floor rotations CCW, which is the way that most figure skaters rotate. Skaters are given a choice by what is natural i.e., most people who are right handed would rotate CCW and most people who are left handed feel a natural rotation in the CW direction. I've heard that dancers are taught to rotate in both directions. When a routine is choreographed with all or the majority of rotations in the CCW rotational direction as it was for dancer 9, 6 and 3, is that a choice given to the dancer or just the prerogative of every dancer? I love ballet; haven't seen a ton, but of the ballet work I have seen, it seems most dancers turn primarily in the direction of what we call in skating "a lefty" direction. If I had been made to spin primarily CW, a very un-natural direction for me, I would not have been able to do triples, and I doubt - for the great quad jumpers of today - they would be doing quads without being allowed to jump in their natural direction. I've always been curious about this? 🧐 WOW on #1 Kimin Kim...just WOW - definitely deserving 1st!!!!!
@carolinafranciscosorg7808 ай бұрын
dancers learn and train to both sides as equally as possible to maintain a muscular balance over the years, but in variations principals do most the side they are better. For dancers CW is to the right- it is the left standing leg but the turn is to the right side, when the turn is en dehors (to the side of the leg that is in passé)
@jamesk8s18 ай бұрын
Thank you Carolina - makes sense. Glad principal dancers can choose to rotate in the direction or in the "side they are better". 👏@@carolinafranciscosorg780

I do know Simpkin is a natural Left hander. Don’t know about any of the others. You can do triples?! Wow. I adore ballet and really like skating and sit in awe of your skills. If someone calls my name as Im walking across the kitchen and I turn my head, Im likely to face plant. 😂
@jamesk8s18 ай бұрын
Hi Mary, ha ha 🤣"face plant" love it, but I'm sure you are gifted in other wonderful ways!! I trained and competed back in the Brian Boitano day and competed with him in my final event - had to retire just after reaching the Sr. level due to a back injury, but I did get to compete with the great Brian once :)! Yes I did triples, but what skaters are doing now especially the current World Champ Ilia Malinin is something that we thought was humanly impossible and even today - even though he did it, we are in awe of his super human abilities - hope you got to see his performance - if not u can find it on YT. Anyway, best to you! 🙋🏻♂@@marynoonan6111
