Seriously - non-teachers - do not leave comments!!! You have no clue about how classrooms work, and thus have no right to insult this method. I wish you would be sent into a classroom full of 1st graders - see what happens. This teacher is awesome!

The title read Power Teaching Third Grade. Out of curiosity, what is the Bloom's Taxonomy Level of this form of teaching?

This is amazing! Just a minor "FYI", the description is incorrect. This class is using the theme song from The Addam's Family, not The Munster's.

@MichaelMoify Active discovery is used in WBT classrooms frequently, where it applies and is desirable. On some occasions I assign a student or a small team a vocabulary word and tell them to learn all its meaning, and create a gesture for that word, and then teach that to the class. There are times, however, when this is not desirable. I teach science, and the definitions MUST be precise. In that case rote definitions establish a baseline, and the critical thinking comes with application.

This should not be taught in third grade. This standard shouldve been taught in kinder and 1st. I would rather see a more difficult concept taught to this grade level.

Fun, but this approach would not be good for an autistic child, or children who are sound sensitive. Too much audio overload!
