As you know Chris I’ve had mine for over 2 years now and I wouldn’t be without it. It’s an essential part of my setup for practicing. The ability to record everything when I need to and to choose whether to play through the cab, monitors or headphones is just great. It’s been an extremely worthwhile investment.
@jasong5464 жыл бұрын
Matt Birtwistle hi there. Can I ask you a question? I am using a device called a radial headload prodigy to attenuate, and to hear my tube amp through headphones and I love it, but I have to try to balance my monitors with the amp if I want to play to backing tracks and it doesn’t work well. You mentioned practice. Would you be able to use the ox to play with tracks, from the computer or device so it sounds better? I don’t want to buy a modeling amp that has an aux input unless I have to. I like my amp. What can the ox do along those lines?
@mattbirtwistle61884 жыл бұрын
Jason G hi Jason. I have my Ox connected to my audio interface (focusrite 2i2) which is then connected to my computer. So I play backing tracks on the computer and everything works out fine. I don’t struggle with balancing volume levels. What’s even more useful is that recording is a doddle. I just open my DAW and I’m good to go.
@jasong5464 жыл бұрын
Matt Birtwistle so in that set up the sound of the guitar amp goes into the computer and you hear it and the track through monitors? I really appreciate you replying thanks!
@mattbirtwistle61884 жыл бұрын
Jason G that’s right Jason. I can also choose to hear it from the amp’s speaker as well if I want.

The Ox is a game changer for home players and studio work. 2.5 years since it's release and people are still asking this question and finding how impressive that it is. If you want to use your own amp, pedals, etc and don't want to peel the paint off the walls all the time, or don't have access to an iso booth, the Ox is the best solution out there.

I've had the OX now for almost 2 years and its literally the best studio tool I've ever owned. Had every attenuator, impulse, plugins, amp sims, etc. But never did a solution come together so elegantly and simply while sounding and feeling this good. 99.9% of the time I use mine in the studio without a cabinet but it's also great to use when working on amps as a load or an attenuator to test out the work. I'd love to have the ability to run 2 cabinets in the OX software, but otherwise it's perfect.

@dracul744 жыл бұрын
guitarmanme63 I had an Axe FX 3 and sold it for Torpedo Live. Not trying to change your mind, but if you have a chance to try one or an OX you might change your mind. Probably depends on amps and pedals you own though. I’ve got a bunch so never feel like I am missing a certain amp model. Playing real amps has a certain feel that is missing in Ax, Helix and Kemper IMO (have owned them all). Anyway, best of luck.

guitarmanme63 awesome hope you enjoy it! I use it with IRs about 80% of the time, probably cause I already owned them and used them with other products... but I do use their cab models sometimes too. I’ve been surprised how much development Two Notes continues to do. In that way they are like Fractal where the product keeps evolving for the better. Best of luck....

Getting an OX Box literally changed my way of practising and recording: I love it. I agree with the live application use, although i've found that its good for giving the sound engineer some options and can make sound checks a lot easier when they've got a decent stereo feed coming from you. It's not the easiest thing to lug about though, they need to make a carry case for it and there's always some prat that uses it as table for their pint...

I definitely see the attraction to the OX. I considered getting one a couple of years ago, but the OSX-only support kept me from pulling the trigger. I ended up with a Kemper instead. When comparing the two options, I really can't see why you would get an OX over a Kemper. I mean.. sure I'd love to have both. But if I were to choose one, Kemper gives you so much more in a smaller package. (One unit with your entire pedal board and 1,000 amps built in rather than a load box and your amp.) So.. either way, I respect the results that come from the OX and your video was fantastic by the way. I did find it amusing when you mentioned using Guitar Rig for the spring reverb. Actually, I think it would have been cool if they built an analog spring reverb into the Ox. But I digress.. yeah... Kemper wins this fight in my mind. The spring reverb in it rocks! =)
@weschilton4 жыл бұрын
An OX and a Kemper are two completely different things.
@dracul744 жыл бұрын
I have a Kemper and Two notes Live (similar to the OX). For me being able to play my own tube amps provides better feeling and sound. I have had the Kemper for awhile, but it’s on its way out. Never been a fan of the Kemper reverbs... I use eventide or Strymon.... just my pref, but I know some others who feel the same. Anyway, Kemper is still a great product... just trying to provide insight into why these products are becoming popular.
@psneville4 жыл бұрын
Nice! On the comments about the delay and reverb not necessarily being useful -- there are a few small reasons it's nice to have these available for free: you can use your amp's gain and have the Ox fx placed afterward as if in a loop on amps that don't have fx loops; you can keep your amp's speaker (or cab) dry with no delay/reverb pedals in front but add these fx in the OX out to monitors to get a quick simple wet/dry setup in the room; the Ox fx and optical out are stereo and not everyone has stereo delays or reverbs in their pedals; you can stack your pedal delay into the Ox's dual delay for cascading ambient effects without extra pedals. Not a game changers by any stretch, but nice to have onboard for free (if you can call it "free" given the overall cost!)
