From a perspective inside the Universe it does not make sense, I agree. Blue was really powerful and letting him die like this certainly would weaken the RR-Army. But, as already said, Red was not smart. But I think when you look at it from outside of the universe, as a spectator of the series, it was a really good introduction for Tao Bai Bai. Blue was super-strong at this point and was probably the first actual villain who fought against Goku and was strong enough to be a threat. And this guy gets killed so easily by Tao Bai Bai. You basically knew that Goku will be in trouble (and he was, after all).

His job is to kill as quickly and efficiently as possible. That's why he's willing to resort to anything to kill his target. And that's been pretty consistent too. Remember how he was willing to use sword or bombs against Goku? Or use knives against Tenshinhan? Or beg on the ground to make Goku let his guard down? Tenshinhan even said so himself that Crane school is about assassinations, and he himself wanted to be a martial artist (which is why he ditched it). Obviously, Tao isn't gonna just stand around and give Blue a chance to fight back. The job was to kill Blue, and Tao did so as quickly as possible.

Logic sound in DBS? Are we talking about the same show? I think Super introduced the characters having warm up sparing in base forms against guys who can beat them in their third form. Which would be the same as hitting a stone wall in terms of what was established before. I think Super makes us believe that Android 17 can get equal to SSGSS by simply training on Earth with no gear. And I think it is in Super that Kabba and Caulifla get their SS2 form after just a few month of training, while in original DB it was barely possible for the prodigy Gohan after a whole Namek and a year of Time Chamber. What exactly was there made to add more logic instead of ruining all the previous one?

Lets be real, Goku might have been a large contribution as to why the Red Ribbon army fell but people sleep on how incompetent General Red truly was. All General Red had to his name was a large stockpile of money and weapons yet he kept making horrible business deals with people who realized that no amount of money offered to them can compare to how valuable the Dragonballs were. Tao eliminated Blue who was actually loyal to the RRA's long term agenda and literally right after this, he nyx's the deal with Red and decides he no longer wants Red's money. He wants the Dragonball's and the spring water on top of Korin's tower. This is exactly why Black grows fed up with Red and betrays him deciding he's no longer qualified to look after the RRA.
