I got bit by one of these as a child. It was awful. Paralyzed from the waist down and uncontrollable vomiting for like 6 hours combined with one of the worst pains I’ve ever felt.

I knew it! TWB's free handling those velvet ants and now black widows. Those velvet ants are a gateway insect, I'm telling you. Good episode guys!

Lol, I guess so. I started with the Velvet ant in 16, then the Widows after. I was already holding Scorpions and Vespids and whatnot, first, though. The Velvet ant was a bit of a landmark for sure, tbh

It’s funny how we fear them and they get such a reputation, when like most wildlife, they’d rather steer clear of us monsters. Can’t wait for the future uploads.

I love your analogy of the letters and sentences well done!

Thanks so much, Mike. I try hard to explain things and I've gotten better. Now if only I could in my personal life :/

Firstly, congratulations on 30k! That is a huge achievement and no one deserves it more than you. The work you do is inspiring, powerful, and totally unique, never forget what you mean to this community. You’ve done so much for us over the years, and this camping trip was the most life-changing trip I’ve taken in years. The barrens are literally another world, and they’re an hour from my front door. That trip changed the way I think man, it totally renewed for me the importance of everyone in the world having access to healthy natural spaces away from others. That black widow was one of many gems that day, I am still so happy to have found one and to have the honor of working with one hands on. Of course it’s a risk, but it is worth it for us to be able to show off the gentle and reserved nature of these spiders. Great upload Chris, can’t wait for the full video! - Harrison and Evan

There’s a black widow that’s been hanging out just outside my back door. I like looking at it.

I need to meet you guys. I have confidence myself handling these creatures on my own. Been doing it my whole life since I was a young kid. I’ve never been scared of spiders one bit.

Seen a few of those around here in y day. Very pretty spiders. But I'll let you handle them. I don't even like cute little jumping spiders crawling on me.

Gorgeous spider. I’d be a bit hesitant to handle a black widow but would love to admire one from a safe distance. ♥️♠️

Beautiful BW spider Chris! I personally would not trust handling one but I can see why you guys do it. Hope that you are doing well my friend! 👍👍🕷🕷

We've had an explosion of recluses in the house and I've seen loads of widows outside on the property. Maybe that's why we don't have any grasshoppers.
@chrisegnoto2 жыл бұрын
Possibly. Often, they are a species of Grass spider, but may be recules. If so, then they tend to deminish after a population bloom.

We found several of them outside our home last Summer. One was up in the corner of our window sill, another under the awning of our front porch, and another under our deck. They were a little larger than the one you show here in the video. Also, their markings were on the underside of the abdomen. They were quite scary. Have not seen any this year, yet! I hope we don't. They're beautiful, but I'm terrified of them. I believe we had some males around too in other window sills. Are the males brown?

There is a brown widow as well but cannot bite. Good thing because it would be worse than it's black cousin.
