The FX3 has more dynamic range on the inside shots, but I prefer the Pocket 4k because it looks just as good but a tad sharper than the FX3 while being 1/3rd the price. The Pocket 4k is an amazing value.

The most wild thing about this, is that the average film goer wouldnt know the difference when either is on screen ! I have a bmpcc 4k and I am in love with it, !! I love the look of the fx3 but for the price of a black magic and what it is capable of, INSANE results.

@@ugpfpv361 it’s not a worry mate, it’s a fact: if you shoot with a black magic camera in direct rain, it will short out and become a very expensive paperweight. This guy chose to compare it to the fx3 so I’m also comparing it to the fx3. Also, I DID “go with what I have”, I bought an fx3 bc I don’t want to have to sprint for cover if I’m filming on a beach or in the woods and it starts downpouring.

@@RustyShackleford9000 awesome that you like your cam!, I love my blackmagic, but yeah won't film in a situation where water will get on it without precautions, also even though it's an extra step and take a little time you can now get rid of rolling shutter in post in davinci, my nephew has the a7sIII, it does look nice in low light and the autofocus is amazing, but I myself just like the image I get better in the end... To each their own, he's having a good time, I'm having a good time, who cares..., it's like trying to convince someone to change their political affiliation or what brand car is the best 🤣

@@ugpfpv361 the DaVinci rolling shutter “fix” does not remove all the jello effect, and it crops in a very large amount, at least 20% to have any real effect on handheld footage, and the result still isn’t usable… The blackmagic is great if you done need great low light, don’t shoot in rainy environments, and don’t need autofocus. Its designed to live on a tripod in a studio which is great, just different use cases

great job! 👏I have noticed something that few comment, and it is the science of native color. The bmpcc tends to have a color with a higher green curve, which is the color essence of any professional film camera, on the contrary, the color of the sony fx3 and all sony cameras, tends to have a more purple color, it can be seen in the images of 01:24 in the house in the background. For this reason many people when they see a bmpcc image are amazed since there is not so much to touch in terms of the essential color of the image.

Ok, la FX3 a vraiment de bons atouts, autofocus, meilleur Bokey dû à son capteur plus grand, très belle fabrication. Mais pour la différence de prix, avec une BMPCC4K sortie en 2018 que tu trouves à 800€ et une caméra de 2021 qui coûte plus de 4000€, honnêtement le choix est vite fait. 🥹 Très belle comparaison 🤗

C'est fou cette différence de contraste , mais pas forcément surprenant quand ont a un plus grand capteur cmos il faut plus de lumière dessus , ça explique aussi la différence de bokeh un MFT va recevoir plus de lumière que le super 35 mm.

Me gustaría ver esta comparación con los mismos ajustes en ambas cámaras. De inicio, se nota que los ajustes de la FX 3 se hicieron para dejar entrar más luz al sensor. Haber hecho eso quizas no deja ver más detalles en la piel de la modelo con la FX 3 mientras los detalles de la piel, tono y textura, con la BMD Pocket 4K son mejores por mucho. Sin embargo, con la BMD Pocket 4K sí se obtienen mejores detalles de la piel como tono y textura. Esa es la misma razón porque la cámara más usada en producciones cinematográficas de alto presupuesto es la ARRI Alexa. No obtstante en cuanto a cámaras de bajo presuesto, me perdonan, pero las cámaras de Blackmagic Design se llevan a la comapetencia y por mucho. I would have liked to see this comparison with the same settings on both cameras. To start with, it is noticeable that the settings on the FX 3 were made to let more light into the sensor. This may have kept the FX3 to show more details on the model's skin, tone and texture; with the BMD Pocket 4K those skin details are much better. However, the camera settings, much better skin tones and textures ARE obtained with the BMD Pocket 4K. This is the reason the most widely used camera in big budget feature films is the ARRI Alexa. Despite that, when talking about low / limited budget films, sorry to say it, but the Blackmagic Design Cameras are much better than the competition.

@@ChrisFilmmaker Good. I understand that for some, especially if their work is rendered on Rec 709 and watched on social media or Tube websites there is a choice. But for some of us whose clients demand much higher bitrates over 250 mbps, there is NO choice but to use REAL Cinema Cameras with raw data from the sensor. Neither S-log nor Pro Res are good enough for my workflow. Anyways, BMPCC 4K / 6K is rarely my A camera but my B or C camera. Regardless, I do NOT see either the FX3 nor the FX 30 as cinema cameras, they are vlogging cameras for a VIDEO, not CINEMA workflow, at least for me and what my clients ask for.

i bought the bmpcc 4k because of this video. i ditched my a7iv n zve1. once we experience the 12-bit Braw it is hard to go back. unless you really need the autofocus then just go with sony. but for nahhh.. 😊

@@scottmorgason slog3 is also present in the Venice cameras that shoot tons of other productions, like the new top gun for instabce. If you use the right color space transform node settings in DaVinci you do get great colors without manually color grading from Sony. Now I will say, if the camera is on a tripod and only doing static shots or extremely minimal movement, and rain etc isn’t a concern, and it isn’t a low-light scenario, the black magic does have a better image and better colors. But for me, lowlight capabilities, weather sealing, fast rolling shutter performance plus the af option and tiny form factor make the fx3 the winner. But there is a use case for the bmpcc over Sony, namely studio situations with controlled lighting.

Sur la FX3 t'as de la rémanence, alors je ne sais pas si c'est parce que t'es à 180 degré en obturation mais j'ai pas l'impression de voir ça sur les vidéos de FX3 que je trouve sur KZbin. C'est hyper visible sur ta vidéo "Tu veux VRAIMENT le LOOK FILM" quand t'es face caméra, c'est peut être le 24fps qui fait ça. Oui, tu as totalement raison et je cherche à comprendre pourquoi. C'est peut-être à cause du codec ou du frame rate? Je n'ai pas encore trouvé mais il y a un problème. I have tried S1H , XH2s , FX3 and ended up with BMPCC 4k , if you guys not looking for an hybrid camera and good to go with manual lenses and it's gyro stabilization (it's amazing) just go with BMPCC4K do not waste your time , also there are a lot of options for the battery issue you can handle.

The BRAW with 12bits is very good and the FX3 need the atomos ninja V with PRORESRAW (16bits) for make the difference :) !

Until you take it off the tripod and actually move it around, then the image is a funhouse mirror due to awful rolling shutter 😂 plus it will get fried if it gets a little rain on it bc it isn’t weather sealed at all. It’s a cheap studio only camera. You can get away with using it outside in dry weather, but even if there’s no rain it’s at risk of shorting out from condensation getting inside the bmpcc body due to it not being sealed.

If low light performance is of concern, then I wouldn't be buying either, not a Sony or a BM camera, not even a Sony FX9, I'd be picking up a Canon C500 mark III or C300 mark III, every day of the week.

@@TheDocumentarian01 If lowlight performance is of concern, yes, the C500 Mii would be great. However, the Sony FX3/A7S3 is just as good if not better. But ok, you like Canon. Nothing wrong with that, just be honest about the capabilities of both brands.

​@@jacksonjackson9474The Canon was just one example, but they are superb cameras, great colour science and excellent low light performance, all whilst being true cinema cameras. As I've said though, for me personally, since moving to Arri, I really don't think I'd look elsewhere. They're just too good. In my experience, once someone has shot seriously, or spent significant time, with any one of the offerings from Arri, rarely do they want to use anything else after.
