I live in low cost area in east Tennessee. Our 3000 sq ft 4 bedroom 3 full bath is $1200/month mortgage. Mortgage is cheaper. Lucky and bought before prices tripled. Worth 3 times as much. No way could we afford prices people pay now to live here. Love to get the 350,000 equity from it but would pay twice that for something similar. Our house would be worth several million in California. Lucky and live in low cost area. Low cost area=lower pay. All equals out everywhere. Rent here is really expensive now though. Used to be $600 for a 2 bedroom ok home. Would be $1200 now. Our house could rent for $3500/monthly.
