We all miss Brian George as Chrisjen's husband! He is truly one of those "that guy" actors you have seen in something at some point and so it makes sense that he got work elsewhere but it's such a bummer.

"You're not even the real father!" - I laughed out loud at that one! Amos' backstory is so dark. The hints they left are more than enough to tell us, but I'm glad they didn't have to outright say it.

It's okay (on some level, at least) to appreciate the acting behind Alex's character, because the fact is that it is very good acting. There's a reason Alex was (and to a degree still is) one of my favourite characters on the show. It only makes what the actor did all the more heartbreaking, as well as inexcusably disgusting and aggravating.

I'm able to separate Alex from Cas, thank God. It would ruin a great character otherwise.

Love that it was S1 "tilting at windmills/fools rush in" Holden's actions that ultimately save the day - even the most ill-judged things we do are still steps on the path, just gotta keep walking. (and also - not least because there's so much great stuff to come - I really appreciate that these are still going up BTW, thanks :)

Chrisjen went ahead with the marine option on insufficient Intel so that she could win political points, she played a risky hand and lost. The general had every right to be angry, but I like that the show explores her personal moral flexibility, she’s making very hard decisions based on several different needs, without all the necessary info. Giving her an Earth popularity contest on top of her trying to do the right things for all of humanity, was a boss move by the writers. Great reaction as always!

Avasarala, especially in this season, is a great showcase for the character writing in this show. Things don't really go well for her, but it's not for lack of trying. The belter ship was a lose-lose situation and she did what she thought was right. Leaking the Ilus photos was obviously a dirty political move. Objectively, that was her just trying to win. But in her mind, she has to win, because she genuinely believes that she's keeping Earth and its people safe by restricting travel into the rings. I mean, from what we've seen so far, she's not wrong: Ilus is anything but welcoming. It's those objective vs subjective truths that make these characters great.

The neurotoxin doesn't really affect the brain, it paralyses their muscles so they can't breathe and probably stops the heart too. Well, ok, it _might_ affect the brain, but it's hard to tell since the lack of oxygen and bloodflow affects the brain more.

@EvilAnomaly2 ай бұрын
There's several reactors that don't seem to catch that that move to try to capture Marco alive was indeed politically motivated. There was zero need to try to go after Marco with limited intel in a situation that was going to cost both military AND civilian casualties. It being politically motivated is seen even more by her reckless decision to leak the images of New Terra when she previously said that doing such would be bad. Of course she had no intentions to have anyone die, especially UN Marines BUUUT the act clearly was going to cause that. The General had even pointed out that they were making a fairly risky play based on limited intel, intel that couldn't even be fully vetted. The General was fully justified in calling Chrisjen out but it's understandable how bias will cause some to hate the General in that moment versus a favorite character in Chrisjen.

I definitely was not into the recast of Avasarala’s husband. Yeah, he gave a great performance, but I thought he played the character so different that I kind of wished they had just wrote out the character and had her daughter in law or something be written in instead. Thanks for keeping on with the reactions they are soooo goood ❤

Remember in the second episode of the season they made a big display of Holden taking his cancer meds. It would have been intriguing to see how Brian George would have played Arjun's anger scene. I think it would have come out more as being hurt than angry, and definitely hit differently. Interesting tidbit: This new Arjun actor, Michael Benyaer, also played a similar role as the Vulcan prospective father-in-law of Spock on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. His Vulcan wife was a very strong Avasarala-like woman...played by the same actress who plays Avasarala's daughter in The Expanse. I've always considered "Red Wedding" just a more extended concept of the "Baptism of Fire" scene in The Godfather. Michael Corleone, the youngest son of Don Vito Corleone, has taken over the family's criminal empire. To solidify his power and eliminate his enemies, he orchestrates a series of murders that occur simultaneously with the baptism of his nephew. The scene alternates between the peaceful, sacred environment of a church where the baptism is taking place and the violent, bloody murders being carried out by Michael’s men across different locations. The priest recites the traditional baptismal vows, asking Michael if he renounces Satan and all his works. As Michael solemnly agrees, we see the contrast of his orders being executed in bloody murders. When I saw the scene in GoT, I just said, "I've seen this before."

"Earth must come first" is still the base of Chrisjen's politics, even though she's moved a little from that more brutal version we first knew. Much like real life, you have to be cautious of what version of Earth does that mean and if it's the best possible/realistic outcome. We have a big blind spot when it comes to life on Earth, but it seems that so does she.

I like to think that Avasarala's husband is a different character (that just happens to have the same name) because he is totally different in every way to her original husband, and I can imagine Avasarala being married multiple times because of her personality & job. I also can't imagine the original husban acting in this way or vice versa?

@@mscheese000 Was that established in season 1? I thought he was kind of a blank canvas back then. If they did establish him as being more let me know what and when?
@mscheese0002 ай бұрын
@@SoshiMECH I suppose you're right. I do like the idea of Chrisjen having multiple husbands. And it's not like polyamorous relationships are uncommon in this show.
@SoshiMECH2 ай бұрын
@@mscheese000 There have been a few occasions where they have replaced an actor in a show or series of movies which never really works and I never understand why they don't just say it's a different character and then explain what happened to the other character. With Chrisjen it would have been easy to say that she remarried off screen and with everything she went through in season 1-3 it's very plausible.
@MattNolanCustom2 ай бұрын
@@SoshiMECH it was a bad recasting result, totally different vibe, but definitely the same husband as the Brian George version talked about their dead son, how old he would have been by then had he lived, on the roof near the end of S1.

"In the land of the blind..." is an old proverb that traces back to Erasmus in 1500 AD who may have derived it from a Jewish source, but it's not biblical. Frankie Adams (Bobbie) is indeed tall at 5'11" but still quite a bit shorter than in the books; the show quietly stopped trying to represent the book heights of characters raised in low-G after the pilot episode, probably for the usual boring practical reasons.

You are letting your bias for Avasarala clouding the objective assessment of her actions. What she dis here is morally wrong and her husband was correct to be call her out and be outraged . The thing we need to remember is Avasarala isn't really nice person. She's ruthless, prideful and too self assured ,a dn most of all she is a career politician . She is is still a good person but she have keep in in about these flaws. Nobody said Murthry did nothing wrong, he did too much thing wrong. But he was not wrong that he was a victim of terrorism . Ironically so far he have not killed a single good person on Eros, excepts for Holden and his crew everyone he targeted were the terrorist responsible for the death of his people.
