I like the style of this video, throwing in different clips in between the brake valve job, I think, holds the viewer attention better. Also, it was neat to see inside of one of those because I’ve never had one apart either. Can’t wait to see the inaugural run!

I had been thinking about how to improve retention. You watch any good tv show or movie, and there are usually 2 or 3 subplots that culminate into the main story. It keeps people from getting bored, and gives them the reward of it all coming together at the end. At least that's what I was hoping for. Lol

Great to see the 1855 getting a new life. Hope to see it one day in a new coat of meadow green! By the way a version of that Cessna brake valve was used on many IH tractors as well! It was a simple trouble free design.

@@ThatOliverGuyChris Don't know the IH hydraulic systems that well, however having worked around many IH tractors over the years that style brake valve was present. There is bound to be some IH experts watching your channel that could answer this question. Google a brake valve for a IH1066 and see what appears!

I get torn with Agco at times. I'm glad they have the parts, but some of them can be salty for what they are. I don't even remember what I paid for these. I picked them up at the New York show about 2 tears ago.

Hey Chris, you get some of the best videos out there I had to 1855. They were good tractors usually use them for Hayward. They were great tractors. Lotta people had trouble with. They said up up too high. They always be a whole block right injection pump I never had that problem Problem my head one time lost the oil pressure on 1855 and took the pan off and the oil pump shaft broke and the pump pump grab it and turn it back-and-forth. The casting broke put a new oil pump in there no problem since that stuff you’re running one of them tractors you gotta wash it. You gotta listen to the sound of the engine And run the damn thing down the road but I had a stroke and I had to quit. I would guess that brake valve was half and half, basic design from the vendor with customizations for Olivers application. Plus no auto or heavy truck manufacturer would have a pressure hydraulic brake valve but aircraft companies sure did make them.

Great video as per usual Chris. Seeing you put that dash on made me wonder, is there anywhere you can get a pre-made lighting harness for an Oliver 1650? I tore mine apart to fix the lights, but after seeing all of the crusty wires inside I figured I should just replace them all now while I have it apart

Try agri services. I downloaded their catalog and it shows the light harnesses. I've never bought from them before, but might try them out for the 1855. wiringharnesses.com/harness-catalog/

hi chris ,,,, lov your exspertize with olivers on your videos ,,its like a repair manual ,,but better . I have an 1855 that i bought last summer . runs great ,only one serious problem. the hydrulic oil is leaking down into the transmission . is this a common problem ? ,,,,and does it freaquently occur in the same part of the pan , or such ? thanks shawn from nova scotia
@ThatOliverGuyChris14 күн бұрын
I'd say 9 times out of 10 it leaks through the piston seals on the pto clurches. An easy diagnostic is to cap off the 2 lines that go into the pto valve on the unit and use the tractor. If the leak stops, then it's definitely the pto. Otherwise, it could be the pan or the hydraulic pump.

Hi Chris, are the lines from the fender tankS still available? I also noticed a rubber elbow with a check valve in it on the bottom of the tank. Is that original?
@ThatOliverGuyChris14 күн бұрын
The rubber elbow that also steps down the size is original, and so is the check valve. I just looked it up, and the elbow and check valve are both still available, I need to order a few of each. The steel lines are no longer available. A guy could bend his own, but there's definitely a value to having something that fits right the first time.

Oily hands do not have cracked skin... Plus, you are more apt to be able to get your hands friendly with your wife or special friends because you washed them. Use the orange or lemon-smelling hand cleaners and you are ahead of the friendly games. Pay attention Ross. Oily hands are useful when you have salesmen trying to sell you something and do not want to shake your hand, even after you wipe them on your shop rag, is a sign they are not much of a salesman. Of course, if they shake hands with your wiped oily hands, you offer them a clean shop rag and listen to what they are trying to sell. Rattle can paint is usually good, if you buy good brands. The project I just finished required Case Flambeau Red. The only place I could find it available was on the internet and was $35j.98 a rattle can or $110 for a quart. So my shop-made parts got painted AC orange. It makes the fact that the 5/16" steel fenders were not stock. Just like when they restore the Sistine Chapel they make the repairs lighter so people will know Leonardo's paint fell off. The brake valve is not easy to repair because it is in a hard spot to remove, and replace. Great Video!!!!

I use Dawn dish soap for my hand cleaner. Not the sissy grocery store Dawn, but the commercial stuff I get at Sam's club. It's the best I've used, and it doesn't dry out my skin and make it crack.

I seem like I always get one of them leaking out the desk cap in the very back rebuilt one of them to I think twice, and then hooking the hydraulics up was always a problem. I got another can show them hydraulic lines and snap out anytime support set up on the hydraulic remotes. We have to plug the hoses in. They’re under pressure no matter what you do.
