Dear Beverly, I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband. "Nights In White Satin" , I think, is one of the most poignant love songs ever written and recorded. It's always been one of my favorites since the first time I heard it as a wee lad in '73. Only Gordon Lightfoot's "If You could read My Mind" can compare.

Tiny little snippets of memories. My real, clearer memories only begin in the 60s. My music memories begin in the late 60s. This song is the backdrop for an interesting little tableau. I grew up listening to the Moody Blues, since my parents were hippies. Anyway, I was about to graduate Basic Training, 16 weeks of pure hell. A couple of days before graduation, one of the range instructors had this song playing on the radio. I reminded me that not only was there still another world outside of Basic, but that I would be back in it very soon. It was my own sort of "light at the end of the tunnel."

I was 15 in 1967 when this was a huge AM radio hit. Along with their first number 1 single Go Now all my teenie bopper girlfriends swooned over this heart throb song when we had crushes for boys where we thought our broken love sick hearts would never heal. And now at 68 my heart still aches at the thought of losing my new found love of my life we just met in December. By a fluke we sang this karoke song together Nights of White Satin and both swore it always said Knights in the title. Timeless music that rings to your soul.

Odd story I have for you. Army, 71, Ft. Bliss Texas, somehow survived VN. The NCO club was the place on base to meet females on Friday and Saturday. Ok im gonna leave my opinion on this song, No i didnt have anyone play this song for me as a kid or a loved one that this was our song or it wasnt my fathers favorite song that he would play over and over. I first heard this song in a movie, can’t remember which one since they have used it in many movies. So the first time i heard it i was mesmerized and it fit the moment in the movie so well that i cried because its such a beautiful song. One of the most beautiful love songs of all time in history actually. It is perfectly yet simply written. Nothing fancy just simple words put together so graciously that it gives you goosebumbs every time you listen to it. Its a great masterpiece to say the least. Lets all enjoy great music like this because it will never be replaced. September 28, 2022

I’m a retired merchant seaman… This song brings back the memories of a very “special”moment in Sept 1985 -me & 3 buddy of mine( the late Ismael & late Mudd) were listening to this song c/w having a case++ cans of Budweiser, in my cabin, on board a fully laden bulk carrier vessel (I’m working on),calm sea & quiet (of course😅) night outside..somewhere in mid Pacific- (voyage fm New Orleans to Muroran , Hokkaido Japan, via the Panama Canal)…. Nobody talks …. just intensely listening to this song, with everyone in their own thoughts…..& the song on the cassette player kept playin over & over a few times. That’s just how much we’re mesmerised by the lovely melody & lyrics. The situation we’re in at that moment are just perfect..: Now….Oct 2024, here I am (the only one left of that 3 sailors) listening this song again, just touches my inner self, with sadness in ways I couldn’t describe….tears in my eyes recalling those time with my mate😢..the “special” “moments” in one lonesome night, 39 yrs ago…. Thank you “Night in White Satin😌” ….for being there….on that quiet night, for the 3 tight buddies…. RIP Ismael & Mudd

I'm glad to hear you say that this song was his favorite, but sorry that he passed. I remember the day June 30th of 2017. It was the day that I got the news that one of my schoolmates, J.J. Harper had died in a cabin fire, with his dad. I was really devastated at the loss, and I did cry. Harper's mom and stepdad were the ones who grieved so much, and I felt sorry for the both of them, especially at his celebration of life, which was held in the auxiliary gym at our school, West Junior High, where I cried even more. This kid was very awesome, he always knew what to do for someone. J.J. had once told me that he had faith in me, and I believed him. Although I barely even talked to him, but seen him at school everyday, I kinda felt like J.J. was another friend to me. I also remember him playing "Centuries" by Fall Out Boy on his violin back in the 7th grade, and every time I heard the song come on my radio, I would smile a little saying, "this was J.J.'s favorite song".

Every time I hear this, I go back to the time when Elizabeth (Paige) Sullivan, visited me and my family back in the summer of 2017 with her daughters, Emily, who was 7 then, and Jade, who was, I think, 4 or 5. On August 12th of last year, my parents gave me and my siblings sad news, that Paige had passed away from cancer, and when she was visiting us a couple years before, I didn't know she had it. But I was very sad later that day. I loved Paige so much. She used to babysit my brother, Zyqeace and me, when we were in preschool and kindergarten. And now I miss her everyday, and I always will. That also reminds me of when my dad and my sister, Khamani went down to Utah this one day in December of 2018 for Great-Grandma Edna's funeral. Great-Grandma Edna was one of my dad's grandparents, who me and my siblings only met once in Arizona.
